My Sennheiser 598s are daily drivers for gaming(Mainly FPS) How do these cans compare in terms of Soundstage and channel separation? Probably won't need it, but I'm currently using the Objective2 AMP/DAC to drive..
The Lab GeekHD 598 have a better sound stage than these, are much nicer to listen to. These are very shrilly on the high end, its very nails on chalkboard like sound, not sure why so many people like these cans.
icecream345345Right on. People seem to be split with the elevated highs; Some say they're unbearable, some find them quite enjoyable. I'm looking for a just a little more high end while gaming lol I don't want to make my ears bleed. Thanks, mate.
MaximusPrimeInterestingly enough, That's what I had to do with my M50x. Granted, they're closed. What do you think of these for entertainment purposes (Movies, Music and such)?
The Lab GeekThanks to their wide soundstage they're great for games where sound plays a big factor like Battlefield, CSGO, Overwatch etc..
Because of their strong highs I get uncomfortable while listening to certain metal/rock music (notably Alter Bridge), but with the mod it's much better. Progressive rock sounds great (I listen mostly to Yes and Genesis) as is Hip-Hop/Rap , and the vocals are fantastic.
Ambient music such as Carbon Based Lifeforms sounds awesome as you can hear a lot of detail.
Haven't gotten around watching a movie in these yet, but I imagine they would be more than fine.
The Lab GeekGood to hear. I might just have to get these just to see what they're all about. The more I read up on these, the more I think"Why not? ". Thanks for the information.
The Lab GeekNot really, the other cans i have are a pair of Sony MDR XB500 very heavy to bass, so for me the hifiman are a new experience, first the sound stage is great and for listen classic rock i found them perfect, been able to listen every single instrument and note of "Achilles last stand" is amazing, the only 2 problems i have are the pads and the clamping force.
