Ok so is a DAC required to actually enjoy these? The sound is very crisp and kinda bright but its def lacking heavy bass. Anyone else having this issue?

Blest2k1Everyone has said since sample one that they lack bass. So it's probably ment to be that way.

Blest2k1external DAC improves sound of any decent headphones, so get one for sure. I can recommend ZuperDAC (on drop now) However, these benefit from strong amplifier, because they seem to be quite power hungry. I use them on Asus Xonar DX or ZuperDAC + Fiio A5 and the sound is much better than just from mobile phone. Highs stil need to be equalized, but sound feels more full, sounstage is wider and they actualy have right amount of bass.

Blest2k1I'm wondering if I should get a decent receiver, good soundcard or a DAC. I feel like I could drop about the same amount of money on either. How's the Asus Xonar DX? I've heard great things since they came out years ago. Does it let you really push your headphones/speakers to the next level?

Blest2k1I have no experience with receivers, but soundcard/external DAC depends on your preferences. If you do not need special effects such as surround sound (I never use it), I would recommend portable DAC/amp combo, and a portable one, if you use your headphones with laptop or mobile phone as well. Asus Xonar DX has prety good DAC, but not nearly as good amplifier and high output impedance for headphones (100 ohms, while 0-5 is desirable for most of them), so you need to have an external amplifier if you want to get the maximum from your headphones.
As one universal device for headphones up to 100 ohms, I can recommend ZuperDAC, but on the other hand, in case of very bright sound of HE-350, Xonar + Fiio A5 sounds better than ZuperDAC + Fiio A5.

Blest2k1I don't recommended those Asus Xonar sound cards, there's always an issue with drivers and I have a much simpler cheaper solution. Look up Dragonfly Black/Red 1.5v. I own the Black version and man it's amazing.
