I have ath-m50(original with 10ft cable). Was wondering if these were a good upgrade. Was looking at beyerdynamic dt 880 premiums earlier. Any suggestions on good semi/open headphones for games and YouTube. Under $300 lmk

doreatoThere's plenty of headphones for less than $300 that are good. I'd point you to the AKG/Massdrop K7xx over these if your budget covers them though. Obviously you'll get better headphones if you spend more...

HeeftyWould you recommend those over something like dt880 premiums or some of the higher end audiotechnica products? I'm really looking for a very versatile open back pair. I listen to very broad genres of music(From trap to classical harpsichord to Irish folk) so I really would like something that can do a little of everything. Emphasis on bass is fine because of the amount of trap I listen to. But I've been really conflicted.

DivinityQHow's the variety on these? I listen to a lot of differing soundscapes(almost every genre except country) but a little more bass is preferable because of gaming and my love for trap music. Do these seem to fit the bill? Your suggestion is on amazon for a pretty decent price so they looked promising to me.

doreatoYou can listen to anything with these and it's not gonna sound bad. The bass is controlled and tight with satisfying punch and is not overwhelming and doesn't bleed into mids. If you like good bass, you won't be dissappointed. Personally, I love them. Right now I'm listening to Left Behind by Gustavo Santaolalla and the guitar is so good. Besides, they are built like a tank.

doreatoI haven't seen anyone complain about them for any genre. If you're listening to trap, the K7xx will make you happier than anything else I can think of in the price range. The bass is better extended than the dt880s, but I'd expect the dt880s to be better for string instruments and classical tracks. I can't speak for the sound stage on the dt880s having never actually listened to them but it's huge on the K7xx. My understanding is that the dt880 has a brighter sound signature and the k7xx is neutral. Depending on your tastes I'd try to align with your preferred sound signature between the two.
