so it is a 400i with the old headband... ok. it also weighs 370 grams which means it won't be comfortable for most over 2-4 hours.

UzuzuThis might sound patronising but are you very, very short/small? How can headphones start to feel uncomfortable after 2 hours of use at 370 grams? The HD800 are the lightest headphones I wear and one of the lightest TOTLs out there at like 350g with an aftermarket cable, could you really not wear them forever? 370g is nothing, especially if it is well distributed.
I'm not even particularly tall myself and I wore 580g LCD-2s (550 + cable) for like 8 hours a day for 2 years. The Focal Elear which are my main drivers as of late weigh 450 sans cable too and they disappear on my head.
Maybe I'm over analysing but I honestly cannot fathom a world where 370g is heavy for a pair of headphones, especially planars. There's magnets in there homie, what do you expect them to weigh? If you have a problem with extended use with these then maybe you should consider investing in speakers or good (C)IEMs.

VigrithI'm 6 foot. 370g is heavy. Most reviewers will state that a headphone has "heft" at around 350g or over, or so I have noticed. I would also concur. It isn't so bad when distributed right but it is never light enough that it just "disappears" off of your head. The 400i distributes the weight better than the old headband, which they've brought back on this. Why would they do that? Makes zero sense. And yes planars are heavy either way, I own 2 pairs among 12 full sized headphones in my current rotation. I can't stand the pairs over 350g, and the best pairs weigh under 300. Ad2000x = divine comfort (just an example).
Also the hd800 is comfy, but 20g is a huge difference from 350 to 370. 20g is a LOT OF WEIGHT when it comes to headphones. You should really try a pair that weighs 2XX grams, you won't want to go back.

UzuzuI wear P7 Wireless pretty much everyday for a couple of hours. They weigh about 320g and I've never felt uncomfortable wearing them, but I must admit that they are really well padded. These look better than the original ones though.

UzuzuWeight is less determinative for comfort than fit and clamp force. 370g is nothing, well designed 370g cans you could wear all day. (He 400i for example.) My Alpha Primes, those are 450g without cable, and weight is not an issue, I go all day with those on. I'm 5'7", 160 lbs, with a pencil neck and no upper body strength.
Meanwhile, I have a pair of Grado on ears that weigh nothing (170g iirc), I can't wear those for more than half an hour due to the clamp force.

Taetertotsure, but 2 headphones with a "perfect fit" being weights 280g and 370g, the 370g are still heavy. I wore the he-400i daily for months and for extended periods. I never had a problem wearing them but that doesn't mean they aren't heavy. They still have noticeable heft no matter how comfortable they are. It isn't a bad thing, but it is heavy. But I'm concerned especially for the he-4xx because it uses the older, less comfortable headband and there are zero review units out yet to anyone reputable.

UzuzuTyll is among the most reputable in the audiophile community...

OldTomBombadilNot just Tyll. The 3+ people that have heard them who are part of the SBAF community are extremely professional as well. Matter of fact, I don't think review units have been sent out to anyone that isn't reputable this time around (unlike the HE-350, live and learn I guess, props to MD there!).

OldTomBombadilI mostly trust Tyll, but even he is scared of over-criticizing the products of his sponsors, I've seen it before.
Regardless, I was unaware there were reviews (I couldn't find any). My guess is that it's just a mass produced 400i driverset though.

UzuzuTempting but I will wait for the 2nd drop. By that time we should have enough feedback.
