ceezI honestly don't think FPS gaming requires such expensive headphones. If you want to use a mic you're also SOL here. Unless your game has a killer soundtrack, I'd look for something else. Also keep in mind these are open. Sound leaks. Gonna bother anyone else nearby with sounds from an FPS game? That said I LOVE my Hifiman's and think this is an incredible deal.

ceezYes these could be good for stereo gaming in FPS games. Especially if your sound card has a virtual surround processing like Dolby Headphone. The response curve of these will highlight footsteps and such.

Tom.M.2You're absolutely not "SOL" if you want to use a mic and these headphones. Just buy a modmic, a desktop mic, or a lavalier mic. There are so many options out there, and you can get one of much higher quality than the ones you'll find attached to just about any headset if you want.

Tom.M.2Hi there,
I also looking for a suitable headphone for my FPS gaming. I'd like it to be comfortable (preferably velour pads - I love DT 880/990); NOT reliant on amp; is closed-back or at least semi-open (I live in hot country thus constant use of air-con and fan is a must, and they produce noticeable noise). I already knew about DTs, HD598, AD700x, Shure 1840, AKG 712/65th, Alpha Dog but they all have at least 1 thing that goes against my above requirements. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks
