Has anyone compared this unit to the HE400i? From my understanding the HE4XX has less bass (evident from the freq response graph), was just wondering how the sound quality compares.

slugmanMy understanding is they are similar....i wouldnt buy these if you have 400 series.

slugmanthe 400i have same plastic yoke as he560, which has been problematic lately. I just had the plastic yoke on my 560 crack after a week. Check amazon reviews on yoke cracking.. the 4xx have metal gimbal and yoke, very solid build. I am very pleased.

Well, after keeping an eye on the purchase rate , once it reached 6,300 I finally decided to jump in. '
I can't wait! My first set of planars. I was going to grab a used pair of HE400i's off Amazon (can't beat 2 day shipping), but these look quite amazing. Thankfully May 31st isn't too far away.
I think after these my next set will be the 6XX's. (Or Adv Sounds Alpha Planars if I can swing it.)

slugman6xx are a nice laid back dynamic, must have at great price. good contrast to 4xx.
mr speakers alpha dog/prime are prob best budget closed back planars...used 4-600 range.... Mr speakers aeons planars would be upgrade from 4xx.... about 800 bucks

MarcSpenceThose are exactly what I was thinking of too! I would absolutely love the Aeon Flow Closed back planars! Man those are god damn sexy. Unfortunately because the alpha dog / alpha prime are no longer in production, I've had a hard time finding those. I guess I should keep an eye out on head-fi & ebay.
