Eli35bummer man! I'd send it back myself... but just go to a hardware store and read the back of all the glues and find one that is for plastic and metal, and use a single drop and hold with a clamp over night.
Were you apart of the latest drop that finished a week ago, or a previous drop?

Eli35Unacceptable. This is the exact reason I have not purchased one. Too many people have experienced something similar with these cans. Try to contact them and return them for a new pair if possible. Why have a crooked glued Headphones when you paid for a perfect new pair?

InorbitI would personally not use crazy glue since its somewhat brittle when dried.Use epoxy resin it has a slight flex to it but has the adhesive strength of CG.

HIFI778They offered me a replacement or refund, but since my pair sound perfectly fine and I really like them, I'll keep them and get a partial refund. Massdrop aftersales were very nice, I can't complain tbh, my only concern is with the poor QC (either Massdrop or Hifiman made too many cuts here).

Eli35register them at Hifiman and they will RMA the headphones.
I registered mine at http://hifiman.com/warranty
The serial number is the unit number (mine are 3700)
If nothing else they will give you some options.
They replied to my email about setting up the registration link within like an hour so the customer service is spot on.

zaphrodboxThanks for the info, but I accepted a partial refund and glued them using some cyanoacrylate glue. It popped off first time, then I put some more and it's holding there. Swivel is funcional but a bit harder than before, not a big deal. Almost no glue leaked out, so no visual impact or whatsoever. If they pop out eventually, I have more glue ready hahaha

Eli35Yeah nah, this is the HifiMan classic. They have a history of QC issues across their entire lifetime. I'm more impressed mine came in one piece.

Man, I've never heard a planar magnetic headphone. I was going to get the HE560 for $350 on Adorama but decided against it because I read horror stories about those cans, and did not want to bother returning them if they came bad, which was highly probable.
For $169.99, though, I'm willing to risk getting the HE4XX. If it comes defective, I'll just return it. Massdrop has great customer service in my experience and it's like someone is always waiting for my message, because they reply quickly. But I pray to God they come functioning, because the only time I bought headphones and they came bad were some supposedly new beyerdynamic DT 1350 from an Amazon seller that came with a bad plug. I say supposedly because you never know with beyerdynamic, since they bizarrely never use sticker seals on their boxes. It irks me!

Kerry_MaxwellWell, this sound is stunning for this price, so I guess that if you pay $169 for a $400 pair of headphones some cuts must be made. I'm still happy with my purchase, these are great sounding headphones and comfort is pretty good too, so if you wanna take the risk these are 100% worth the price.

RafaeloI think there's no such thing as private messages on Massdrop, unfortunately. I wish they implement this in the future tho, the community is getting bigger and pm is a must to not flood the topics with stupid single-sided messages like this. My partial refund was around $20-40, can't remember exactly, but it sounded fair for me so I accepted. I hope you can get your pair fixed, but first test the sound so you're not wasting your time fixing some defective sounding headphones! Eli35Thanks so much again. 20$-40$ are not enough to me because I am so bad to fixing things. I do not want every now and then to fight with the glue since I am not sure I can fix this properly. I would go for the full refund and return these but they sound really good I want to give them another chance.
I do not buy the argument that this happened in transit since they were very well protected. The idea that someone put them in the box like that or this screw came off so easily really worries me for the future.
The bass shake problem that I am just hearing now gives me another headache...but thanks for warning me.

RafaeloYou should always try to contact Massdrop support, got nothing to lose. And it's really an easy fix, if glue works for you too. It took me a few tries, but It's really easy, trust me. These headphones are worth your time, as a HD6XX owner (and lover) I think these are great too (in a different way, but great nonetheless).

Eli35 Received mine last Friday and lucky it’s not broken. However I do notice a few assembly issues. Workmanship are just shitty! Everything is torqued down so tight that both ear cups can hardly move to conform to my head. Took it apart and did some modification which should avoid the nuts from popping out later on down the road. Also it makes the ear cups float freely and be able to conform to my head much easier.

Eli35I ordered Hd6xx too. I have listened hd650 few months ago and instantly fell in love. Probably endgame for me. I am impressed with 4xx with sound quality so far. I based my dessision on Tyll review. By listening to zeo sound demos I prefer 4xx to m1060 (or is very close) and very close to lcd2 classic!!!But when I am listening the demo for 660s I am wow...

InorbitIt supposed these to be advertisement for hifiman for the most expensive models. You take one cheap and became fan and then go for let's say Sundara. I do not understand why they are doing that. The AKG Y50 sells 50 pounds so must be 20 pounds to produce with so much build quality. Add 20-30$ to the price and build like a tank. Save from the design the colours and the extra stuff. Make people confident with your products and will come back again and again. I have the best planars but you need to hold them with your hands...what's the point...

RafaeloI got the HD6xx too and it's just beautiful. Both sound quality and craftsmanship are just top notch. Other than the paint job it's exactly a HD650. Yet, it's only 20 more than HE4xx! You won't be disappointed.
The re-design of the HE4xx is good but skimping on quality to the point it affects the comfort of the headphone and most importantly the longevity of the product is bad business. Don't tell me labor cost less in Ireland (HD6xx) then in China (HE4xx)! And this only shows the product was assembled by unskilled entry level workers to save a few bucks. I don't care how good it sounds if it'll fall apart in a year or two. And you're right about building confident. Guess I'll look somewhere else when it comes to planar headphones. Should have bite the bullet and bought the Oppo PM-3 before they discontinue it.
BTW just found out the left side cable is shorter than the right. No wonder the left cup feels "heavier" than the right. Sigh...

InorbitCompletely agree with what you said. I guess there are companies for outsourcing that do the construction for you just choose one good to do it for you and pay the extra bucks. I did not choose HE4XX because was 169$ and would be a deal braker with 189$. I chose it even against M1060 which is 250£ even if I am wrong with my choice. Choose a simple functional design for your cheap model and save there money in the production process. I really love the parsimonious laconic look of HE4XX, I do not want anything more just sound quality and durability. I have 99 classics for beautiness.
Regarding PM3 I tried at home in comparison to hd650 for a couple of days. I clearly prefer hd650. Not fair comparison since it is closed back but still I chose Meze 99 classics instead of this. Now do not get me wrong PM3 is a superior in technical terms phone among many. But they overdid it with smoothness according to my opinion. It Is like sugar in a coffee. Too much and might spoil the taste. People describe PM3 like boring headphone. It is NOT according to me. I think they just overdid it in the effort to impress with the planars capabilities. So maybe after all you did not do a bad choice unless you are certain you like them so much and now they have extra value since they are discontinued.
Is anyone from you European union that ordered Hd6xx. Since they are made in Ireland do they include any certification to avoid extra import fees? Can be done something about this or because they ship from USA nothing can be done. Pretty ironic to pay import duties to an import from Ireland.

My only complaint is the build quality: they look solid and well finished, but one of the right earcup screws popped off after a few minutes and now it won't stay in, even after pushing it for a while. I'm attaching some pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. Has anyone dealt with the same problem? I'm considering putting some glue on, but I don't know which one should I use, don't wanna lock the pivot movement so I have to be careful. I also contacted support, but they said the don't know how to fix this, and the only thing the offer me is a replacement or return, but I'd like to keep my pair because they sound great. Suggestions?
