Hello, I just joined, primarily for the audiophile products. Looking at purchasing the NHT C3 speakers for our new living room. Space is about 15 feet wide by 33 long and they will fire long ways. Space is just for general listening, music room with all equipment is downstairs, so hoping they will fill it with sound nicely. Cheers.

I went with a 2.5mm TRRS to use with my portable amps and just use a balanced XLR adapter when using my desktop setup. Works great.

And this style adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0791S6R43/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1525567211&sr=8-16&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=2.5mm+xlr+adapter&dpPl=1&dpID=31XzYtQfF8L&ref=plSrch
Pretty cheap overall and if your other stuff terminates in 2.5mm TRRS you have a lot of flexibility and only need the one adapter.
If you have IEMs, I like this MMCX cable and the adapters are a nice touch and you just have to get a balanced 2-pin elsewhere and then you're covered on all bases: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B076PWSSSJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525567591&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=mee+balanced+cable&dpPl=1&dpID=41cFP%2BzqL-L&ref=plSrch
