I'm considering purchasing a new pair of headphones and have been trying to figure out which pair offers better bang for buck. I mainly listen to metal, punk rock and occasionally some synthwave. The other pair of headphones I'm considering are the HD58X Jubilees. In your own opinions, which pair should I buy (first)? I currently have Sennheiser HD558s running through an Objective 2 amp (first amp) and am quite new to different headphone sounds so I'm willing to try different sounds. Thanks 👍

b3nd0vahApples and Oranges, 1 is planar and other is dynamic. 4xx have big sound stage and 6xx is probably best can under 1k. both are strong build and scale well with ss or otl amps. i would skip the 5 series and go straight to 6xx. My main closed cans are alpha primes and open are lcd2F. I rotate the 6xx and 4xx. Kinda like cleansing the auditory palate. Rotation gives me the appreciation of each and brings new life to my music and movies. There is no better just different at this level ( imo ) I use 339 otl amp and burson cv1 with on board bb dac and project r2r nos dac. Stream tidal hifi and optical out from tv for film ( netflix, prime, hbo ) bottom line.. imho.. skip the 580 and get both the 4xx and 6xx. And get a good amp or a few ;) As both scale up well with quality amps. btw..i listen to all types of music, except for rap. 6xx are bulletproof build and 4xx have metal yokes and dont break like the old 4 series and 560 plastic ones. I replaced both cables sets as the included are fair at best and look like crap, but they work ;) lots of pretty custom options on ebay for under 100 bucks

MarcSpenceThanks for the reply; between the HD6XX and the HE4XX which pair of cans do you thing offer a fresher sound? The main difference I'm aware of are the HE4XX Planar bass and the HD6XX dynamic bass.

b3nd0vahi think the 6xx should be purchased before 4xx. They are just solid all the way around and very comfortable ( unless u have big head, then u may need to stretch them out a little, as they may clamp too hard on ur head. Just put them btw appropriate width of books for a few days ) Luckily they are low priced enough to have both. Then u can “struggle”with which is better...lol. Once u have both you will be set. Imo, ur going to need to go over 1k to get “better”. Also, less chance of build issue with 6xx.
