The RE-0 had bad review for build quality, so what is the warranty for this model?

TDKayI've owned 7 pairs of Hifiman headphones, including the HE-560. I've had 3 pairs of RE-0's and RE-400's each. They all have the same bad build quality. The RE-0 especially had problems with the cable. Sound always starts cutting out in one ear first, then the other. Fixing/recabling is impossibru, each individual strand of wire is coated in insulation.
Warranty is not something Hifiman believes in. Every time I've contacted them (in the warranty period) they wanted to hear nothing of it.
Why do I keep buying them? I don't, except for the RE-400 which can sometimes be found for $49. It's a fantastic sounding IEM, comparable to my $400 Shure's, and for $49 they're expendable so I don't mind exchanging them every 6 months to a year.

SteelyDI haven't had any issues with the various Hifiman products I have owned, and I still own the HE-500 and the RE-400. However, I don't use either of them daily, or even weekly at times.

TDKayIve had a pair of HE-500s for a couple years now and they have held up perfectly. Id be willing to bet these RE-00's will be great. Especially for the price.

SteelyDThanks for the info, I've been looking around at all the IEM's here and even the cheap ones and mostly they have been cheap so far and have durability problems. Guess it's back to waiting up and saving for an FLC8/S variant. There are two other $400 range IEM drops active but no one is really jumping on them. Already jumped on Purplehearts.

SteelyDI have a pair of RE-400 that I used daily on my commute to work on transit for about 2.5 years before one side started cutting out like yours. Except I got my RE-400 for close to $100 USD. I'm tempted to pick up 2 pairs of these RE-00 as replacements. I've tried some others (Shure SE215, Xiaomi Piston 2/3, etc) and none of them fit my ears as well as the RE-400 nor have the same/similar sound signature. How do the RE-0 sound compared to the RE-400?
AvroArrowMidrange is more recessed on the RE0. RE0 also sounds more "organic", if that's the right term. Bass on RE400 is better, though.
This drop is stupid. Stupid good.

ben_r_At this price I wouldn't care if they only last 3 months.

AvroArrowI never A/B'ed them directly so I can only give you a rough idea of what I remember it was like upgrading/sidegrading to the RE-400 from the RE-0. Both of them are what I would consider neutral. Nothing sticks out, nothing is missing. They're no bass monsters but they offer good, accurate bass. Treble is nicely detailed and a little sparkle when it needs to. Never too sharp or sibilant. Spot on. But the mids are where it shines. Detailed, great texture on instruments, good sound stage. Voices sound great. And this is running on a Note 3...
Differences between them? I remember the RE-0 as slightly less smooth. A bit grainier maybe, but that could be a biased mind talking. I think the RE-400 sounds a little better, but not much. The RE-00 is a steal at this price.
They both sound classes better than the FIIO EX1/DUNU Titan 1 I just bought. At a lower price too. But don't expect the best build quality.

SteelyDRE-0's are without a doubt my favorite IEM I've tried...but I will have to concur with your statements about Hifiman build quality....specially the RE-0's. Mines the left ear went out.....then after the replacement....the left ear again also went out. Reading online, it almost seemed like everyone who had an RE-0 had the same problem happen to them.
I'm intrigued in the description that says they have revised the cable for better durability. Perhaps it could be time to give them another try....

twstHe's talking about the RE-400 earphones, not the HE-400i headphones. Seems like earphone build quality is generally lower than their headphones'.
