Sound is pretty flat overall. Bass is a bit weak. Treble is where I like it for no-fatigue sessions, but just short of any real air. They sound competent enough for 35 dollars, decent for that. I'd say they present the overall hifiman signature sound though in terms of balance. Overall slightly anemic but midrange is decent.
They fall short in build though. The lower half of the cable is decent with some thinly braided material that is nice to the touch, but where it splits into L and R the cable is super thin and flimsy and no longer covered in braiding, kinda a wtf. There's no bead slider on the headphones either, no carrying case not even being a tiny bag (honestly I don't care but it's in the description).
I think some similar offerings by sony and philips especially at the 30-50 dollar price range might be worth more investment than these. I'll be using them though as drivers on the go for a while. Wouldn't cry if they went missing.
