Hi everyone, I'm completely new to the IEM world. I've just received my pair this morning and like others, I've been disappointed by my RE-00s. I find them quite tinny and with no substance to the sound compared to my headphones and my KOSS KSC75s. I ordered the RE-00s as a way of getting a good entry level pair of IEMs but to be honest I expected more, but I don't want to be too down on the RE-00s until I understand a few things.
By nature, do IEMs sound tinny compared to headphones? Is there a way to try to improve the RE-00s, and is it expensive to do this (don't want to throw good money after bad).
Thanks

keiranDo the included ear tips fit well in your ears? Because if not, they're not going to sound very good. Yes, there will be more of a lack of bass than you're used to, but that's pretty normal for IEM's as they're supposed to have more of a balanced sound than a warm sound like a lot of headphones have.

a.assurasThanks for responding. How do you source a pair of ear tips that fit well? Noted about the IEMs sound more balanced.

keiranNot sure, it's really up to you. You could try Comply Foam Tips. I just grabbed the silicone ear tips from my old Sennheiser earbuds, as they've always fit me well and appear to fit the RE00's.

keiranThere's nothing to help tinny treble. These are just terrible iem's. I've never owned a tinny pair in my life. I'd say the old sennheiser cx300's - which were my first iem's ever - sounded better than these. These aren't even balanced/neutral sounding aside from the tinny treble. The bass is so imprecise that it muddies the whole sound up. I LOVE bass-anemic phones -- this pair isn't just bass lacking, the bass is just extremely inaccurate. My favorite pair of discontinued iem's are the Vsonic VC02 that had the most modest amount of well-controlled bass and which some described as clinical.
