I got mine and I can tell you, it is a total waste of money. There is absolutely no bass in these pair. I have Bluetooth earphone from Amazon for 19 dollars that can blow these away. I don't get it why folks like tho crap so much. They sound just like the ones I pick up in conventions for free.

mig2000If you aren't able to tell what they can do, try burning them in for a little while, I do it by just letting it play through my collection on shuffle and leaving them overnight at moderately high volume. Then make sure you test them out using high bitrate files and orchestral stuff, or maybe something like 2cellos' rendition of Hello by Adele. You'll hear the details in the highs and the clarity of vocals and such. That's what these IEMs do best I think. They aren't as versatile as my Piston 3 but I don't think they're supposed to be, not at this point in the burn in process anyway.

master_sifuWhat details in the highs? The muddy bass makes everything sound rather veiled. Tbh you probably have yet to hear a headphone that has good highs - or mids for that matter - cuz these phones have neither. Can't even match similarly priced chi-fi phones these days. And even super cheap chi-fi phones come with way more eartip options. I mean maybe if you paid $35 at retail and received these on the spot they would barely be acceptable quality for the price. But unfortunately, that's not exactly the kind of ecosystem MassDrop presents itself to be.
When we're paying as a community up front, we're assuming we are getting a good deal on the phones in return for the massive wait for delivery. Instead if we get headphones that are only equatable to $35 worth at retail or less, then we are getting completely ripped off because MassDrop is making us wait insanely long for no additional value. They even tried to get away with not shipping cases and saying the listing itself was an error. If you let them get away with this kinda stuff by trying to defend them, then quite frankly you are part of the problem. I don't mean to pick on you in particular, but just wanted to input my 2 cents on this whole fiasco.

AngraI think this is more personal preference. I am coming from the Sony MDR-7506, Xiaomi Piston 3, Samson SR850, and Granvela V1, but I have also used the Audio Technica M50, Philips SHP9500, and Shure SRH440. Using these are comparisons, I think the RE00 are decent IEMs but I think I may be in the minority here. Did you try using other eartips? That might help.

master_sifuRight. Those are all pretty budget phones. I wouldn't expect much from them in terms of being an actually balanced/neutral sounding phones in the first place. Budget phones almost always make a compromise when it comes to balance. This isn't a matter of preference - these phones just aren't balanced.
Try out a pair of AKG 550/551/553s on a decently amped source and you will find a whole new dimension to music that you haven't heard before. I would recommend Vsonic VC02's for iem's but they've been discontinued and I've been since looking for a replacement. Vsonic VSD3S's aren't bad once you replace the cable (replaceable versions have been discontinued and replaced with non-replaceable but better cable. Haven't heard these yet myself though), but definitely a bit more V-shaped than I prefer. Got the clearest highs I'd heard on the silver cable from luna shop, but they broke extremely quickly and got no customer support. Ostry KC06's are pretty balanced and definitely pack several punches above the RE-00s, but again one channel died pretty quickly.
I would have been happy if the RE-00s came anywhere near the clarity and soundstage of the Ostry's tbh. That is what I expected from headphones with a group discounted price of $35 to be somewhere in the mid $40 range to lower $50 range in terms of SQ. (I never expected them to beat out phones twice it's price or anything crazy) Unfortunately these phones came nowhere near that. I used zero audio carbo tenore single flange tips since I had them bouncing between several different pairs of iem's and knew they sounded pretty good. (The tenores themselves were trash, but probably still beat the RE-00s just by virtue of control and actually having a soundstage, although it was very colored/not neutral)
I get that you are already invested in these phones and really want them to sound good, but these are some pretty disappointing phones for the insane wait time we endured and since they quoted that the eventual MRSP would be $80. I bought 2 pairs based on this false advertisement, so I had double the disappointment. My biggest problem is that they advertised that these phones will focus on balance/accuracy and these phones have neither due to the muddy/uncontrolled bass and lack of soundstage/instrumental separation. These are the most claustrophobic sounding iem's I've heard in a while.
