Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

When we're paying as a community up front, we're assuming we are getting a good deal on the phones in return for the massive wait for delivery. Instead if we get headphones that are only equatable to $35 worth at retail or less, then we are getting completely ripped off because MassDrop is making us wait insanely long for no additional value. They even tried to get away with not shipping cases and saying the listing itself was an error. If you let them get away with this kinda stuff by trying to defend them, then quite frankly you are part of the problem. I don't mean to pick on you in particular, but just wanted to input my 2 cents on this whole fiasco.
Try out a pair of AKG 550/551/553s on a decently amped source and you will find a whole new dimension to music that you haven't heard before. I would recommend Vsonic VC02's for iem's but they've been discontinued and I've been since looking for a replacement. Vsonic VSD3S's aren't bad once you replace the cable (replaceable versions have been discontinued and replaced with non-replaceable but better cable. Haven't heard these yet myself though), but definitely a bit more V-shaped than I prefer. Got the clearest highs I'd heard on the silver cable from luna shop, but they broke extremely quickly and got no customer support. Ostry KC06's are pretty balanced and definitely pack several punches above the RE-00s, but again one channel died pretty quickly.
I would have been happy if the RE-00s came anywhere near the clarity and soundstage of the Ostry's tbh. That is what I expected from headphones with a group discounted price of $35 to be somewhere in the mid $40 range to lower $50 range in terms of SQ. (I never expected them to beat out phones twice it's price or anything crazy) Unfortunately these phones came nowhere near that. I used zero audio carbo tenore single flange tips since I had them bouncing between several different pairs of iem's and knew they sounded pretty good. (The tenores themselves were trash, but probably still beat the RE-00s just by virtue of control and actually having a soundstage, although it was very colored/not neutral)
I get that you are already invested in these phones and really want them to sound good, but these are some pretty disappointing phones for the insane wait time we endured and since they quoted that the eventual MRSP would be $80. I bought 2 pairs based on this false advertisement, so I had double the disappointment. My biggest problem is that they advertised that these phones will focus on balance/accuracy and these phones have neither due to the muddy/uncontrolled bass and lack of soundstage/instrumental separation. These are the most claustrophobic sounding iem's I've heard in a while.
