Mine arrived promptly and broke within a week of moderate use. The knurled section on one earbud separated from the smooth section.
They don't come with a storage container, so I was in the habit of rolling them up and keeping them in a pocket in my bag. When I pulled them out, this is how they were.
What's more, they sounded pretty average with the stock tips. I had to really fiddle around to get a good fit which didn't last long, so lots of constant tweaking in the ears to get a half decent seal.
One of my more disappointing mass drop purchases.

bongomanAh! This happened to me too, but I didn't make time to get exchanged right away. How many people did this happen to? Perhaps we can convince MASSDROP that these were not built well? or we got a bad batch?

bongomanI received mine from the first order run. My left (from what I've read it seems it's just happening to the left earpiece) earpiece was loose at the same joint pictured above, and unscrewed itself when I placed it in my ear, but it still works fine to this day. But I've been taking advantage of this "loose" side when I use them in bed in the dark...a light twist on each piece allows me to easily identify the left earpiece! I think these earphones are quite nice sounding after many hours (>80) of listening. Very nice details on my C3, iPhone 4S and LG V10. Bass was not apparent with any silicon tips that I've tried and the stock ones didn't suit my ears. HOWEVER, as @Kedgie mentioned previously, foam tips (I don't have Comply, just some cheapie foams) do make all the difference for me and the bass does come through that's decent enough to my ears. The critical point, as with all in-ears, is to have that perfect seal to bring out the best from the RE-00. Amping is probably beneficial...my V10 has a great DAC and is running at high impedance mode for the RE-00, so presumably its amp is kicking in to make these earphones sound decent. Waaaay clearer than my Xiaomi hybrids.

bongomanI'm just mad at myself at this point for not returning them right away. I might bring them to CanJam SoCal and show HIFIMAN booth that their product breaks in half for at least 3-4 people on this drop. That's a bad batch, for sure.
