What disappoints me the most is that one of the most essential features of the keyboard is not properly advertised. Why didn't you guys made a couple of videos showing us the True and Clear switches? I would like to see and hear them in action. Those graphs mean nothing to me. I'm no enthusiast or keyboard geek. I just can't stand committing to a purchase like that without proper knowledge. I'll probably get my hands on this by the end of the year. Then If I happen to pick the "wrong" switch, I'll have to wait until maybe March 2018 for the new drop with the other switch? Cmon folks.

dream3We spent a year testing and compiling accurate data on every mechanical switch on the market to provide you with a point of reference for understanding what we invented here - https://input.club/the-comparative-guide-to-mechanical-switches/
We also made the keyboard hot-swappable, so you can pull the switches out and replace them if you don't like the ones you initially chose. A video could help, but at the end of the day, it would just be a picture of a person elegantly pushing a button, which while entertaining, doesn't provide you with enough information to make a decision.
At some point, you may just have to trust that we made something cool, and I do apologize if we haven't met that criteria for you yet! We will have to do better on our next switch, and we will explore other forms of visual communication for the Halo project, so that your concerns are addressed.
In the meantime, I can answer any question you might have about the switch, but I would need to know what sort of knowledge you are looking for.

AndrewLekashmanHi Andrew. Thank you for your reply. What I meant was regarding the two new switches. If I was planning on getting the regular ones, it would all be 100% fine. But with the Halo True and Clear, I feel like I might make the wrong choice and have to wait even more time after that to get the other one (when they appear on massdrop, after the keyboard has been delivered I'd imagine). I really think a video would enlighten a lot of people in that regard. These are my main concerns so far: regarding their sound quality, which was has the most crisp sound as opposed to baffled/mushy? And regarding the overall satisfaction, which one is less spongy?

dream3For the True and Clear, they have the same slider, but different springs. The True is the preferred switch invented by Jacob Alexander (who has tried every switch ever), and the Clear makes it a bit closer to the Cherry MX Clear force curve weight that so many people in the community love. It is not an identical spring to the Cherry MX Clear, we aimed to match the overall force and feel using data and testing, not simply taking the spring used by the Cherry MX Clear and calling it a day.
The sound is fairly comparable between the two. Neither sound baffled or mushy. The overall feel is very smooth, sponginess is something that occurs when you have resistance, or a spring not intended for a slider, so I am not sure that it applies here. Worst case scenario, you will be able to replace the switches at some point in the future, after we've shipped the first round.

AndrewLekashmanSo apart from the True being the perfect switch, what does it compare to in tactile feel? Cherry Blue? Cherry Brown? Or is it also close to the Cherry Clear (like the Halo Clear)?
It's silent, but I'm just wondering, since I have a switch tester at home and I can give it a go.

lailokenThe closest switch to the True is likely a Topre switch, which wouldn't be on a switch tester. Cherry Clear is in the neighborhood, as it has a large, smooth sloping tactile bump. But we invented something different, it isn't meant to be just like what you already have.

AndrewLekashmanThanks! I found it on this site: https://input.club/the-comparative-guide-to-mechanical-switches/tactile/halo-true/ And indeed it seems to be close to the Cherry Clear (in the parts that I like) but with some welcome improvements.
I love the Cherry Clears, But love the smoothness of my Gateron Browns. The Halo True seems to be well-designed. Also the higher force after actuation makes the True more interesting than the Clear... worth a try... I've never felt a Topre.

AndrewLekashmanThe 2nd version of the CoolerMaster switch tester has a 45g Topre switch on it, though it was discontinued when Cooler Master stopped making the NovaTouch.

AndrewLekashmanThanks for the clarifications, Andrew. Lastly, since both have the same tactile bump, do the Trues feel less hard than the Clears on the fingers due to the different spring? I see the difference in the actuation force is only 7. Is that noticeable in practice?
