freespiritPlease make an effort and go to your local computer store and test various mechanical keyboards and make a note of which switchtype felt best to you. You will probably find more Cherry manufactured switches in the stores. After that we can give you a comparison to similar kailh switches. Recommending anything at the current state of your physical experience in mech keyboards is nonsense.

TelFiREStill better than you starting calling people names like a true SJW. freespirit can tell me him-/herself if I offended him/her. Then I'd apologize. But I'd rather be stern telling them to go out to the stores making real life experiences with mechanical keyboards for them to make a sound decision before investing in a $200 premiumpriced mechanical keyboard. In the end, external preferences or recommendations dont matter, because switches are a "personal" thing one has to test for oneself. Let them experience the journey to insight instead of holding their hands every time telling them what switch may be better for them because it works for you or other people. On the front page there are all links to the switches explaining their various traits and forces. How much more handholding is needed? Are people so lazy to research that they need others to compile for them 8 webpages of switchinfos into one sentence?

freespiritI would recommend the halo true's just because it sounds the most unique out of the lot, and if it's as advertised, it won't be the same as any other switch in the MX world. (if there were kaihl bronze's, I would have maybe tried those, but I think there's a group buy on those somewhere...)
Tbh, there isn't a switch I dislike. I do prefer clicky switches because they have a sharper bump than other tactile (such as zealios, which feel riding over a small hill instead of the edge of a cliff). However, I wouldn't suggest clicky's for certain video games such as FPS and rhythm (hysteresis).
Next in line, it'd be tactile as it just feels satisfying for each press.
Finally, linears although not my most preferred, are my favourite for FPS and rhythm games (mainly what I play and use my computer for) . With heavier springs though, linears feel amazing as it's like typing on clouds.
I do have 3 keyboards with this being my fourth... So in the end, the best way for you to figure out what you like the best is to try your friends keyboards and figure out what you like. The best part of this board is that you can change the switches, so you could definitely try other switches without buying new boards. I'd suggest gateron for clicky and linears due to cost effectiveness. Tactile switches are usually premium (MX clears, zealios) so maybe grab this board with a tactile option?

SamDaPwnerPerhaps, I've no firsthand experience, but theoretically because it doesn't have a jumping slider like other clicky switches, it should work like a normal tactile switch with a crisp sound. From what little research I've done (youtube and text reviews), they are closer to linear than tactile.
In the end, I'd still give preference to linears because of the lack of sound it produces (which is best if you don't use push to talk, devil!), or light tactile like MX browns.

rawrjauInterested. This being your fourth are you hopeful it can replace the other 3 or do you think you'll keep different keyboards for different activities and switch types. Personally I hope for the former.

verdigrisHaha, I have each board for different reasons so I won't be "replacing" any of them per se, but I will be repurposing one of them. I use a 60% for my FPS games where mouse space is essential, my 75% for my in-bed lazing and other games, and my full-size is mostly novelty (Ducky Year of the Monkey, my zodiac animal), with some use for Starcraft and productivity. My plans are to use this one as a switch tester + at desk "other game" keyboard. TKL isn't my ideal layout (I really like 75%!), but this is the first board with both underglow and in-switch RGB that is programmable, so I'm more interested in that aspect than other things like hot-swappability, otherwise I would have opted for the Moon TKL or Mira SE on geekhack. If this thing takes off and people start making custom cases, I'll be extremely satisfied (someone pls do a high profile one!)
I'm a video gamer at heart, but I can't see myself getting rid of the boards I love using currently!

SnorelaxNo, I'm talking about personal experience. And others share my opinion. You have to go up too far to reactivate the switch and personally that makes my fingers tired. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPbGZRouc8Q skip to 3:20

freespiritNo one's tried Halo True to tell you for sure, but based on what we've been told, they should be a much more tactile and pleasant experience. Personally I used to be a big fan of MX Browns, but once I tried Topre, the browns suddenly feel scratch and almost devoid of tactility. Cherry just doesn't make good tactiles, IMO, especially after trying Topre, Zealios, and reading about MOD switches. I am personally very excited for the Halo True as it sounds like just the switch for me. They are even fixing the aspect I hate most about Topre -- being forced to bottom out. You likely won't bottom out on the Halo True because the force curve goes up sharply after the actuation, requiring more and more force as you get closer to bottoming out.

TelFiREwould you recommend the Realforce RGB over this K type keyboard?

freespiritI can't recommend the Realforce RGB as it is a full size keyboard, terrible for long periods of mouse+kb usage. And I can't really say whether I will prefer the feel of a RealForce or this either since it's a brand new switch. I am hoping to prefer the Halo True, but only time will tell.
For me personally, there are too many things you can't do with Topre for me to use it. The RF RGB is an exception, but as far as reasonably sized KBs go, there is no RGB on Topre, definitely no underglow, and you have severely limited keycap customization options unless you mod it with NovaTouch or JTK sliders, which noticeably impact the feel and make keys more wobbly. Plus to give it an aluminum case makes it way more expensive, if you care about that which I do.
So, personally, I'll be sticking to MX style and going for this. But, a Topre board is very respectable choice, just somewhat limiting.

TelFiREYou seem like you have knowledge on keyboards. What tactile(don't care if clicky or not) switch would you recommend for a beginner, I'm look at Zealios, Kailh Bronze etc, something more exotic. Also what(backlit) keyboards would you reccomend with the switches?

SamDaPwnerHey there, There's lots of people who know tons more than me, but I've spent a good amount of time researching this stuff and I'm in the process of doing a lot of builds and finding my best tactile switch, so I'm happy to share what I can.
I've never tried Kailh Bronze, but Kailhs are supposedly extremely smooth and generally great quality. I've been intrigued by it, but there's sooo many switches to try and even though you can get a switch tester, it's not the same as using a whole board. I've also been super intrigued by MOD switches, supposedly they are extremely tactile, even more so than Zealios, but somewhat scratchy/not as smooth as Zealios. I can't really tell you which of these is best since I've only tried blues, browns, clears, Topre, and all the different Zealios (and those only on a half-board style switch tester). I wasn't a fan of the clicky sound so I never pursued other clicky options.
My choice is I'm going to build at least a few boards with lubed Zealios (I highly recommend lubing your switches, it's a whole new world). One is 62g fully lubed (even the tactile legs) and that will be my silent board. This switch when lubed is extremely quiet. Another will be a 67g with lubing, but not on the tactile legs, because while lubing them dampens sound a lot, it decreases tactility (still more tactile than MX browns though). Plus I'm ordering this to try out Halo Trues, and it's possible I will like those so much that I just replace all my Zealios, we will have to see. But, Zealios are a solid choice. If you're like me you won't be happy until you've tried everything, but if you're fine with just picking something and sticking with it, Zealios is a very very nice choice.
This K Type drop is one of the best boards I can recommend that is currently available. Part of the problem is a lot of the boards you can build do not support per-key RGB, which is fairly important to me. But if you're okay with solid color LEDs on the keys, and just RGB back/underglow, there's a whole world of extremely awesome keyboards but you have to get in at the right time. Usually these are smaller group buys run in the GeekHack and/or Reddit MechanicalKeyboards communities. There is also the KBD75, which I have ordered one of, available here: https://kbdfans.myshopify.com/products/kbd7

TelFiREI'm not looking to build a keyboard, I have a switch tester and know that I prefer tactile switches. I don't want to build a keyboard since it's literally my first mech keyboard, so I'd rather get myself a prebuilt and maybe build one down the line.
