Is one of the possible things to stick into that second USB a number pad?
QueenXenonI'm going off memory here, but I'm pretty sure that the IC guys said that it is not a USB hub. The second USB port is for cable routing options.

goldsyIn the FAQ post they say " There are two USB Type C ports, what can they do? The two ports are for better cable management but the extra port can charge a device that is attached to it. The second port allows for future connectivity to Input Club devices (such as the Infinity ErgoDox). "
But I'm not sure why you would attach the ergodox to this since they're both complete keyboards Also I figured a num pad would be similar to the ergodox in connectivity
QueenXenonThat's interesting. I missed the part about connectivity to Input Club devices. I can only give speculation, but it is possible they mentioned the ErgoDox because it uses TRRS jacks to communicate between the two halves of the keyboard. The USB C spec includes a mapping from USB C to 4 pole TRRS jack, so maybe they are hinting at the ability to use half of an ErgoDox plugged into your K-Type for gaming, or maybe a future gaming pad, number pad or some other add on device they have plans for using USB C ports.
Having two complete keyboards plugged in seems unnecessary except for the case where you have other people using your computer. My Planck is plugged into my Das because my wife won't use the Planck. I seem to remember seeing a picture on Reddit of a guy's girlfriend using the mouse with the Windows onscreen keyboard because she gave up trying to use his ErgoDox.
Seems a bummer to limit it to IC devices but doing direct connections allows the connected devices to be aware of each other which could open up some interesting options like driving lights across devices, or switching layers on a second device from a key press on the first.
edit: Added additional thoughts.

QueenXenonYou add an ErgoDox in case you have 3 or more arms, duh! :)
I'm intrigued by the possibility of a numeric pad or macro pad that speaks KLL and can be daisy chained to this.

QueenXenonIn theory the second port can be used to daisy chain any KLL boards (that have the extra USB 3.0 lines). Since KLL is all open source there's nothing to stop you or anyone else from building a number pad that can utilise it.
However while Input Club have said they would love to implement a number-pad in the future, it's not a priority; At the moment your only option really is the Infinity Ergodox - that said, one half of an Ergodox might make a pretty good number pad.
