Hey Everyone,
Happy to report that the K-Types have arrived at our warehouse, and are now being packed up for shipment! Tracking numbers should start appearing in the next few days, and we expect all units to leave our warehouse by November 10.
We’re super excited to share our months of work with everyone, and want to thank you all for being with us every step of the way.
I’ve also created a talk post to help you set up your K-Type. Please check out http://dro.ps/ktype-setup and let us know if you have any questions.
We hope you are as pleased with the keyboard as we are!

YanboWuWill those that were among the first 500 to order be receiving theirs first? Also, was there any way to tell if you were among the first 500 to order? I'm fairly certain I was, but never heard of any way to confirm that.

AndrewX58As I said, read into it as you see fit. It's your prerogative. Instead of explaining my position here I'll simply link to my original post discussing my thoughts on the matter if you're interested. https://www.massdrop.com/talk/2342/massdrop-halo-switch-update/1814641
And yes, I have decided not to buy from Massdrop anymore. Between delays, the fiasco that was the Ergodox, sending everyone that entered the xd60/64 gb the wrong plates, the mess ups with the plancks, double/triple shipping to some customers on Godspeed while the China Proxy ends up having several thousand dollars worth of caps cancelled by them for their mess up, I've lost all respect for this site. PhantomTacoThat is true. But just because thousands of orders just happened to get messed up, you simply outweighted that against the millions of successful orders. Before you continue discouraging massdrop, how about you praise them for their hard work at MILLIONS of orders instead of just bashing at them. Like they’ve said, your comment is not valid if you cannot speak for both sides.

AndrewX58Praise is given when praise is due. Doing things right some of the time doesn't mean that your shortcomings should be overlooked. And Massdrop's shortcomings in many of the instances highlighted are massive. As I said earlier, to each their own when it comes to opinions on this site.
I also have no idea what your last sentence is in reference to. If you're talking about the Halo Trues debacle, yes, you are right. Without having full information it's not a complete picture. That being said, that doesn't prevent anyone from drawing conclusions on what information is available. And based on the information available, I stated my position and views on the matter. Much like you did when you said:
" Just because the agreement input club signed was violated by input club themselves, you’ve decided to not buy stuff from massdrop. Lol! "
Based on incomplete information. So I suggest you take your own advice, and I'll continue with mine.

YanboWuHello, I ordered the keyboard with Halo True switches. One of the switches is bad and acts as if the key is being held down after pressing once. So instead of getting one character, I get a whole bunch spammed continuously. I know it is the switch, because when I swapped it to another key, that key began having the same issue and the original key was fine. I already submitted a ticket to support yesterday about the key spam issue, but I don't see an option to update my message with this new knowledge. Thanks.

YanboWuSo Massdrop did not require a signature for the delivery of my keyboard. I was in the first 500 purchasers which means I was guarenteed a low serial number. However now either my parcel has been delivered to the wrong address or stolen which means I'm out of a keyboard.
This is rediculous and completely unacceptable.
I have been in contact with the company delivering the parcel (Australia Post) and they told me they did not require a signature. Every other parcel I've had with massdrop required one. Why did this not require one for something that was a limited run, serialized and when I was in the group of below #600 serialization and will likely never run again due to the issues between MD and IC?
Extremely dissapointed with this. I've been involved in about 50 different drops and this is extremely unacceptable to happen and will never be purchasing through massdrop again as a result of this.

Hopefully the same fate doesn't happen to my HD6XX that are already on their way to my house
I'll be extremely pissed if that does.

BlueCrownedFor all the small stuff that you've bought like keycaps and stuff which fit in the mailbox no, for larger and more expensive items it generally requires a signature. Something like this which obviously will not fit in a mailbox should always require a signature.
Edit: So Massdrop informed me that their current distribution agreement no longer includes signature on delivery.

CyphreI have the following:
Razer Blackwidow Ultimate (Costar) CM Storm TriggerZ (Costar) Skydigital nKeyboard Mechanic (Cherry) Corsair Strafe RGB (Cherry) KBP V80 (Costar) Obins Anne Pro (Chinese Cherry Clone) Redragon Kala (Chinese Cherry Clone) TeamWolf Zhuque+ (Chinese Cherry Clone) Topre Realforce RGB (Topre) WASD Code (Costar) Mionix Zibal 60 (Costar) Vortex Pok3r RGB (Custom Cherry-like stabilizers?) KBD75 (Cherry) Input Club K-Type (WTF?!)
Until today I thought that the ones on the Anne Pro are the worst. This KB proved me wrong. Basically they put the worst stabilizers possible on a KB that has a price on par with the KBD75 and second only to the Realforce RGB. The $50 Kala and Zhuque+ have better stabilizers!
I want to hear that they have some compensation/remediation plan for the mess they have created on a KB that was $243 (with taxes). I don't want apologies as now I have to order Cherry Stabilizers, wait for them to arrive and void the warranty to get this KB to a decent state.

c_r_zI disagree, especially on the quality of the stabilizers on the Zhuque; they were just as terrible. Costar stabs also aren't at all the same, nor function the same. How bad or good is pretty irrelevant overall because all the aftermarket clones are bad and none are anywhere near the same tolerances of genuine Cherry. The only thing that makes them seem slightly less bad is adding PTFE grease or similar.

CyphreYes, you might be right and the lube on the Zhuque is probably what makes them feel better. Even though they also wobble, they fell and sound better. At least with the Zhuque there's no metal wire rattling when the key is released.
search
Still it's frustrating that a KB that was four times more expensive compared to the Zhuque feels so bad. Taking taxes into consideration the K-Type price is pretty close to a Topre Realforce 87U board. Unfortunately that one was and still is out of stock in Europe so I went with the K-Type.

c_r_zCost relative to the Zhuque isn't really proving much, as you would need an example of a board of similar qualities that is actually using good cherry stabs. And that is only if you are completely ignoring how terrible it sounds on its own, compared to just about any other board.
Should companies like Kailh get in on that market? Of course! But that has literally always been the case and the reason why people still buy genuine Cherry stabs or the rare, expensive offerings from places like Zeal. There was definitely no way either of those were going to show up here. Other noteworthy alternate offerings need to exist first before we'll ever see 'good' Cherry stabs on a mass-produced board.

I read this and I realized that the stabs can be removed without opening the case so I went ahead and took out the stabs, lubed them and put them back in. Now it's much better though the right shift will need to be re-lubed at some point as it's not as silenced as the others.
As for comparing the board to a similarly priced one with Cherry stabs, I already did, I compared it to my KBD75 hat has original Cherry stabs.

c_r_zYep, that's the way to do it...at least to hold you over until the Cherry replacements arrive :D
For anyone reading this looking for a solution to the rattly stabilizer issue: short term go with lube. If you want it to feel like it should, drop another $10-15 and get a set of plate mount Cherry stabilizers, clip and lube them, swap them in and enjoy. After the swap, the thing actually feels and sounds like a $200+ 'board. There's just no comparison.
BTW note to Massdrop: next time you have a premium product on offer, don't skimp on the things that matter especially when the difference in price is so small. I'd have paid an extra $5-10 for good stabs out of the gate, but I'm not sure it would have required even that much.

c_r_zThe question was rhetorical, because there are no comparable boards; the KBD75 isn't RGB backlit, tenkeyless, and is also traditionally a kit last I recall. Might seem like a minor factor, but it accounts for considerable expense.
Congrats on the swap. It's sort of the point of this board, being able to change just about anything

Making me go out and buy new stabilizers that's $12 without shipping for me and add sum superlube also $16 overhere not to mention the time to research how to lube & take apart this keyboard.. If Massdrop doesn't provide me with the service i expect i'l vote with my wallet like we say here in The Netherlands. btw i won't tell you my source but MD was warned that these stabs are going to be awful but they decided to ignore that advice.. We begged MD for months to fix them and it was passed off as not being important, and that was long before the Halo switch thing started. The main problem is that they didn't source the correct diameter wire for the stabs they chose. "

beyondesignI completely agree. I paid $10 for my genuine Cherry stabilizers and it made a world of difference. The K-Type now feels like its worth of the $200 price tag. If people were willing to pay $200, I don't think they would have minded much if Massdrop charged an extra $5-$10 to get genuine Cherry stabilizers. At the $200 range, people are expecting a premium product, not something with the same stabilizers from $40 mechanical keyboards.
