The Future of Carry is what’s in store!
search

Hey everyone, Techwear.Intern here and I'm super freakin' excited to share with you my very first official product release - designed in Vancouver, Canada and developed with extensive collaboration with Massdrop! https://www.instagram.com/techwear.intern/
search

Massdrop x Intern - Series 1: Modular Pockets & Packits. The first seven products in an ecosystem of user-configurable pouches and organization. Built with a nowaste manufacturing methodology. Featuring a brand new system of compatibility that I'm calling the Modular Adaptive Carry Standard - MACS. By mixing and matching items built with MACS compatibility, you’ll have the freedom to create the perfect carrying solution for a day, a weekend, a trip; whatever your life demands (they also attach anywhere with 1in webbing connections, such as the MOLLE, PALS, and ARKIV and TECSYS systems too!).

Techwear.InternCan you post the details of the configuration s that you are using in the pictures?

Jun 15, 2018
ChuckDeeAgreed. Would like to know which size center zip fits just nice with packit.
YukarinWorking on some images, but in general sizing down in the pocket will ensure it fits nicely with the packit. For example, when buying a large packit, you can either buy the medium or small pocket and it will fit. The large pocket will not fit nicely with the large packit.

Techwear.Intern Not throwing shade, making fun of your products, marketing and the demographic that's fall'n for it--there's a difference. Some of us already have this stuff figured out--apparently others would be lost without your help and are willing to pay for it--regardless of how silly they're going look when you're through with them. Got nothing against the Transfer of Wealth bit; I know you gotta make a living!
(Edited)
RayFLets keep the discussions here on topic if you woudn't mind. You've been quite clear in making the case that these products aren't for you. If you have some constructive criticisms to share, I'll do my utmost to address the revisions with future releases! Be well dood, no hard feelings.

Techwear.Intern Yeah, I mind. I'm not here to boost your drop, support your company, make your Porsche payments, or help send your kids to college. You think you've got a product here--I think it's lame and deceptively overpriced (shocking disclosure: the full-monty set is north of eighty-bucks). I also think your marketing is grossly irresponsible. It's not "The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away"ploy that I object to (that's rather common around here), it's your overt support of vandalism, destruction of public and private property, and gang culture that your marketing attempts to legitimize. Featuring masked, and hooded models with tagging paraphernalia in your product shots, is about as irresponsible a marketing tactic as I've so far seen on Massdrop. Maybe you don't care about the problem of graffiti, or worse, maybe you're one of those misinformed types who confuse graffiti with art? Or maybe you just don't give a good god damn because there's no graffiti where you live, and money is money right? Well I'll bet there's a fairly substantial population out there (particularly in San Fransisco) who'd beg to differ with you. If your products are legitimate and you are targeting a legitimate audience, then ditch the hooded and masked models, and ditch the markers and the spray cans in your product shots. If you're not encouraging or supporting the activities I've mentioned, then fill your pouches with whatever people who don't wear black masks and hoods are interested in purchasing these days. If you're at loss for what those items might be, have a look around MD's website--since you're the only guy selling shit that features taggers, nearly everything else should qualify. That's my constructive criticism and you don't need to wait for "future releases" to suddenly grow a conscience--you can replace the shots now. Until then, I'd encourage anyone else who sees Graffiti and vandalism as problem in their area (or to their business) to encourage MD not to support this type of marketing or product on this site. But yeah dood, no hard feelings.

RayFMy friends who do murals do so legally and as licensed paid gigs for businesses, cities, and galleries. Their works and collaborations empower the street culture community in doing good and using their skills in beneficial means. They work under a collective they call SlashCollectiveWorldwide hosting events and spreading nothing but love, music, art and passion. We work out of a collaborative space that we have spent the all of our time, money and efforts to create here in the city of Vancouver. A place called SPACE, www.spacetospace.co. We're just a rag-tag motley crew of young creatives trying to make a difference. My efforts with my works are entirely my own, there's nothing ill meaning behind my works and it's unfortunate that you've misinterpreted it as you have.

Check out my instagram - https://www.instagram.com/techwear.intern/, you'll see pretty quick what I'm about I think. The cropped faces is an attempt to anonymize myself as a brand... I want my work to speak for itself and I hope that the feedback and discourse is around the product and its successes and shortcomings. This creates an environment, much like SPACE, where the quest is to constantly improve ones results!
As for the price, I'd like to note that the final sales price is far far below typical industry standards for markup... and it was actually a fight to get the cost so low. I had to introduce an entirely new approach to efficient manufacturing in order to drop the cost. There's no possible means to lower the price of these products without compromising materials quality, taxing the skilled workers who manufacture these products, or ordering unit quantities in excess of 10,000pieces per pouch.
I'm a kid who works everyday and night to make things I hope people will enjoy. Most of the time I'm waiting for the business I work with to send checks, stuck in pay cycles... often wondering how I'll make rent or pay my bills. There's no fancy cars in my life, I live in a glorified hammock 15ft above my sewing machines and crank 18hours most days. Sewing and craft is my passion and I love that the community I shared my work with these past few months has given me the opportunity to do what I love most every day and night.

As for your request for a SF friendly photographic style, here's a few swanky Sanfran city steet pics. :)

RayFI had hoped for a nice civil discussion, however after scrolling through your profile I see now that not going to be possible. You seem to spend your days downtaking drops, mine and many others too... all day long... day after day. Clearly there's no possible action to elucidate you to the reality of the situation. Kindly take your hate elsewhere, or hit me up on insta, skype, googlehangouts, or even a phonecall, seems like you just want to be heard... glad to give you the chance. Techwear.Intern No hate, we just disagree. Sorry for the reality check, but life is full of people who aren't going to greet you with hugs and hot chocolate--particularly if you're attempting to market a product/life-style they don't care for. That'd be me. I've replied to your comments, voiced my concerns and you've done your best to happy-face your way through it, but I'm not buy'n your rap or your shit: graffiti is graffiti no matter how you spin it. And yes, it's true, I've voiced and defended my opinions on plenty of other drops--some I like (and buy) some I don't. The whole function of the comments section is to allow us to evaluate drops, express our feelings/opinions, pro or con--it's helps MD figure out where to put their energies (so to speak). I'm sorry they backed your product (because of the way you've marketed it), but I wouldn't be overly concerned if I were you--MD doesn't exactly lean on me for advice and guidance in these matters. Your shit will sell or not based on the product, not your hype or my opinions of it. I have no interested in "hitting you up" elsewhere-- this is where we met and this is what you're hawking. I don't want to be your bud, I'm here to buy stuff (frankly, you'd have faired better by ignoring me rather than trying to play me). True, I didn't buy your elevator pitch, but you might find few hundred souls here who do--take the money and run! On the other hand, come back with a product I can get behind and I'll be the first one to sing your/it's praises. 'Till then: huff paint ;- )

RayFI'm glad that my transparency is becoming clear to you. :)
I'm a materials scientist sir. Jeans don't touch my body... cotton has no place upon the human form as I define apparel. And pants are to be designed and worn upon the waist, in order to maximize mobility and function!
Check out this article from RealClobber Magazine in the UK where I discuss my notion of 'techwear' and garment design: https://realclobber.com/techwear-intern/
I again wish you all the best. And truly hope that some of my future releases cater more to your distinguished tastes (your Flickr feed is very well curated, I like your style... hope we can share bottle of whisky sometime, you can find yourself an excellent Old Fashioned here in Vancity!) I fly to Italy first week of July to work on a high-fashion capsule collection alongside the former lead designer from Zegna! Keep your eye's on the historic fashion house and fabric mill D'avenza - and the shelves of Barneys and Nordstroms next spring - for some items more likely suited to your aesthetics... including my take on one possible avenue for the evolution of how we define the suit itself.
