Polycarbonate top housing ? The original panda's top and bottom housing are both made of Nylon. And SMD? Orignal panda didn't support SMD lighting. Interesting, but I doubt it would as same as the original panda.

Tac_TauThe factory has confirmed that it has always been polycarbonate. They simply painted it to look like the Nylon bottom housing. As for SMD support, I suppose it depends how one defines support. The opaque housing will block most of the light, but they are indeed compatible, even if the LEDs are not flush with the PCB surface.

Do you have any translucent keycaps or keycaps with translucent legends to test?

ChekonjakSure, I'll get some more photos later. EDIT: Here you go, @Chekonjak. LEDs are at maximum brightness in all photos.

You've never actually seen an actual Invyr panda have you? The tops were not "painted" to match the bottom.

I submit that "painted" may not be an apt description. We're looking to get more information from the factory.

You should probably do that. I believe the tops are moulded in white poly or nylon instead of actually colored over as you suggest.

The top covers of the panda switches are made out of polycarbonate. The color of the top is achieved via adding toner to the polycarbonate before injection.
