"Every pair of these full-size bookshelf speakers is measured and matched to within 1 dB" (from description) Pair matched to what within 1dB? Am I missing the point, I thought dB is a unit to express the ratio?
"the 3-5db channel differences on normal production units are an issue" (from Will) Oh really?! 5dB almost four times the difference in power ratio.

M1Garand"3-5 dB channel differences...." is a range, not a ratio. dB is not expressing a ratio (although I guess it could be expressed as a ratio somehow, but that's not the point here (power ratio?)). dB (decibel) is a measure of SPL (sound pressure level) or loudness. What is being measured is how loud the speaker is at a given frequency. At any frequency within the specified range, if speaker A is more than 1dB louder or quieter than speaker B, then the speakers are not considered to be a matched set.
