Besides the finish, what makes these different than standard JBL 305s? Do normal JBL 305s need an amplifier vs. these do not?

guupti1) These have gloss finish. No gloss finish available with the typical 305. 2) These are a matched set meaning the frequency response of each speaker are more similar to each other. The typical 305s are simply taken off the line as individual units and not paired based on frequency matching. 3) These include isolation feet.

guuptiEach speaker has it's own amplification built in, with it's own power cord.

Elsidguupti was asking what is different between these and the 305s. Both sets are self amplified, so that's not a difference.

gstupakMatched speakers to 1 db and finish, and little cute feet. I use isolating foam, but the feet are nice, as long as they dont walk away.

guuptiAdded bonus.... If you haven't already seen, they have now added a cable with this purchase. Great deal. Man I really don't need these now (was thinking of purchasing the standard 305s at a later date), but this is such a great deal and I don't know if it will come back. Maybe I should pull the trigger anyway.

ElsidI got some good foam from Massdrop that I use for my Chane bookshelf speakers. If I do get these speakers, I'll have to spend more money on more foam, I didn't think of that.
