My set arrived last week, and I've finally gotten around to getting em hooked up and running them through their paces. I'm driving them off of a Behringer VMX1000USB mixer using the USB for input and main 1 balanced output using some so-so MonoPrice Stage Right XLR cables, nothing special but it works without noise.
I detect (with my mk1 ear) no line noise or hiss unless I ramp the output on the mixer to max without any audio playing, and dial the speakers to 7+. This is what I had hoped for, very much a plus. The highs are nice and high, the mids are solid, and while the lows aren't as thumpy as a subwoofer, they do make themselves nicely felt. I don't feel like I need to pair them with a sub, it'd help, but is very much so not needed. The tones are all clean, with no easily discernible muddiness. Very win.
I haven't tried the TRS, but the XLR ports are smooth and not overly tight. No worries about getting cables stuck in them or having problems pulling 'em out.
That glossy finish is dead sexy when paired with a glass and aluminum environment (Macs and glass desk). The power indicators are not overly bright, so no need to mar the finish by covering them. They ain't spotlights, just little soft white glow patches.
These will work perfectly for casual listening or pro-ish monitoring purposes. Rather happy I settled on these instead of the JBL C2PS I was about to order.

FayneSo, 24 weeks after buying these, they're still going strong. Attached them to my Behringer X Air XR18 and get generally the same results as I got from the VMX1000. Minimal line noise when using balanced connections.
Still worth the cot.

FayneThe XLR ports are lacking a lock button and loose. The power cable also is a loose fit
