Looks: Our aim was to create a more modern and sleek look, while still retaining the feel and heritage of the original.

Recognized Modding Platform
Mods are amazing. They’re a compliment from the community, saying they love the product and care enough that they want to invest time personalizing the product.
Over the years, people have experimented with:
-Different foam thickness or adding a gasket for spacing to dial in bass
-“Coin-modding” the foam by cutting a $0.25 coin-sized hole into the pads
-Removing the grills protecting the driver (be careful not to push on the driver if you try this one)
-“Kramer Modding”, named after a community member who removed the grill and drilled (9) holes plus increased (4) more in order to add even more treble extension.

You will enjoy these stock, but be sure to post your mods in the discussion!
HeeftyAbsolutely not the same sound. These are more detailed, have more brilliance and treble extension. The Porta Pros are bassier and warmer. They’re both beyond excellent but I think these are slightly better tuned and would be preferred for the audiophile.
CEE_TEEIs the cable in the KSC75x going to be the same as in the Porta Pro X or KPH30i? Anything is better than the stock KSC75 cable as noted in all the comments in this thread.
erickongSorry, I meant the cable used for the mic. I'm less concerned about the actual mic itself.
Hoping CEETEE can jump in and clarify some things about the cable.
erickongI have the ksc75s and wear glasses. They fit great and don’t interfere with my glasses at all. It took all of a few minutes to get used to them and now that I know these exist, I can’t stand ear buds.
HeeftyThe KTX Pro uses the exact same titanium coated variant of the porta pro driver as the KSC75 does, and is on a headband like the Porta Pro. It has a lot more bass than the KSC75 but loses some of the clarity.
I also have a pair of KSC35, the ear clip version of the Porta Pro (no Ti coating), and I definitely find that the clip/headband influences the experienced sound profile more than the Ti coating does.
scunazPeople used to complain endlessly regarding the porta pro's appearance a few years back. Now I get lustful stares from hipsters at their unapologetic retro statement when I walk downtown.
Think of the KTX as a fashion investment. The 90s are coming back baby, bank on it.
Seriously though, cough @CEE_TEE, KTX Pro in exclusive modern Massdrop midnight blue and a replacement for that terrible OG cable. . . just sayin :)
r-a-yI do like the KPH30 - especially in Beige ;-) I was really excited when Koss launched the KPH/GMR pairing, VERY reminiscent of the KTX Pro / UR40 in timing an pairing.
It is however a different driver /tuning and quite a rolled off, laid back sound compared to the Porta and Pora Ti coated 60 ohm variants. Not so much a case of 'instead' but 'also' :)
BustaRyWell... I wish I would’ve taken my time reading through the comments when I ordered them. I hate treble and am sensitive to highs. I literally just wanted something to use when I watch movies and stuff on my iPad. I should’ve got the ibasso’s like everyone suggested.
BustaRyYes, thank you! I've had both for awhile, but got the Porta Pros first. I never truly enjoyed them, tho the portability is fantastic.
But when I tried them on back to back, I could tell the same difference you described. The KSC75X is just better, more refined to my ears. The mids feel more present and the highs are a little brighter.
While I feel the Porta Pros are more secure, these are still very stable and my hair stays straight. Add the better sound(to my ears) and these are my choice, by far...
CEE_TEEI wish massdrop would make them $25-$30 but with really good detachable cables tat will last under any condition (also some padding for the top of the ear hook wire , i say no microphone needed but some phones do not recognize headphones unless they have an microphone) #ZReviews https://youtu.be/gb3w3_Jbpkc
CEE_TEEThe original post is from Jan, but your reply I was referring to (which you have edited) was in August after his passing.
Thank you for the prompt response and fixing the comment :)
