Can someone please tell me how long this drop will last? I'm waiting for a Christmas sale to get a HD 598 (barely out of my budget right now). Thank you very much!

erickongI see. Will it last until around Christmas or New Year's? I really wanted to get a HD 598 instead (don't know if it'll go on sale).

PreformerFriend, if you're going to buy the HD 598, which I own the black SE model, be aware that even though they do not hide any frequencies, they do not sound sparkly or sharp like Hi-Fi headphones. They sound somewhat muffled, and compared to Beyerdynamic DT XXX series or Audio-Technica MXX series, even kind of "muddy". Their strength is soundstage, lows and the mids. They have a full, complete sound unlike other headphones.

raansire7I don't think it'll matter much, as I'm not an audiophile (at least not yet) and I'm looking for comfort foremost, with everything else secondary. I decided on the 598 as I heard that it has great value in that budget range. How does the sound compare to the Porta Pros? I can't think of anything beyond the 70$ mark, as I'm already overextending my budget. Thanks.

PreformerOh, got you! Well, the HD 598 are featherweight in my opinion and really comfortable due to their shape and the cushy headband. I have big-ish ears and a narrow, oval-shaped head, though. Compared to the Porta Pros, I have no clue how they sound, but I'm thinking of buying the Porta Pros since I'm curious ever since I read about them a year ago on Head-Fi . Now Massdrop worked on the improved version and they're the same price as the regular version. I want to know if they're really good for their price or if my hearing is different to everyone else's hearing. I'm thinking they sound really good, because the HD 598 sound exactly how people have described them online, and I love them even if they are not sparkly .

raansire7Actually, I'm bedridden and ly down on an airbed to avoid bedsores. The air bubbles make all in ears (haven't tried the ear hooks yet though) and most on ears slip off. So I'm kind of apprehensive about buying the Porta Pros, although I really wanted to hear them.
