Got these a couple days ago, haven't had a pair since the 80's. These have a built in mic, which works fine for your cell phone. They are also all black. IIRC, the ones from the 80's had blue in them. They sound the same, are VERY light and feel as though you are wearing nothing . For $38 shipped you can't go wrong . They also have a lifetime warranty, and for $9 you can get a new pair shipped with no questions asked. It's like having lifetime free refills on soft drinks at Racetrac.
The sound is amazing for the price and these are a very fun listen. No fatigue at all and you can wear them for hours. They are VERY portable and fold nicely and have a pleather bag to store in.
The only thing I do NOT like about them is the cabling. I can see the cord breaking as it's almost happened to me already. Good thing for the warranty.
Are these as good as my HD598's or ATH M 50'S? NO, but they aren't supposed to be. They are for when you are on the go and need something light and portable, which you would not be all butt hurt if they were stolen, lost or broken. Hence the moniker "porta-pro" See what they did there, a play on words? Portable with Pro sound. That is some genius marketing right there . Give the guy that came up with that one 3 gold stars. Oh they also fold up and lock really nicely, but the cord sucks! Did I mention that? It's TERRIBLE. If any of you can fit these in the included pleatherette bag, without breaking them in half, you are a better man than me.
One more thing. Be aware they will leak sound, so the people around you will hear what you're listening to. So keep that Best of Helen Reddy, and Hanson's Greatest Hits records for home listening.

YaBoyRobUgh, you had a really great comment until the explanation of "Porta Pro." I think most people can figure that part out.

YaBoyRobcabling on every pair i ever had broke. it's $9 plus the cost to ship yours back to them, so more like $15 each time you want to replace the poorly made headphones... wasn't worth the frustration and cost to me after a while
