erickongSo I was at a waterpark in the Wisconsin Dells a couple of weeks ago with my wife, kids, and their significant others. I'm more of the type who just likes to relax by the pool with my wife and a cold drink (or several...drinks, not wives). I like to have some tunes while I relax, so I'd taken my pair of PPX's. I noticed this younger (maybe 10-12) kid go by me quite a few times and he was listening to his music as well (some cruddy old buds). I didn't have the PP's on at the time, but they were on our table, and I realized he was checking them out. I guess he finally got up the nerve to come over by me and ask about the headphones. He was fascinated by them and said he never saw headphones like that. He said he loved music and he reminded me of myself when I was younger. I asked him if he wanted the PPs and he thought I was joking around. I've actually given away a lot of PP's over the years to friends, customers, and engineers that I deal with at my job. I always keep extra pairs on hand. Better than just a business card. I told him I wasn't joking and he was really excited when I handed them over. I told him to go show a parent right away and tell them they can confirm the gift with me if they'd like so they didn't think he stole them. His mom came back with him and I told her I had a couple extra pairs at home and that I was happy to let that pair go. She was surprised and grateful, and I told her it was my reward to see her son excited about the headphones. I show him how they work, and I told them about the warranty, how easy it was to get a replacement, and they were on their way. I had my wireless PP's along with me as well, and I enjoyed the rest of my vacation.
MonnoMThanks for your kind words. Seeing the excitement on that kids face was worth more to me than the headphones. I can thank my folks for raising me right and showing me more generosity than I could ever repay.
