This looks nothing like SP's DSA "Dolch" ... https://pimpmykeyboard.com/dsa-dolch-keyset/ I'd really like to get a GMK set but not this one - I prefer to have bigger, centered alphas. So far, Dasher is my MD favorite - Also, I bought SP's DSA Granite and I just ordered their DSA Dolch. Looking forward to receiving T0mb3ry SA Carbon (March) and Matt3o /dev/tty MT3 (this month).

FranciscoYou're not going to find a GMK set with large, centered legends. GMK's molds and tooling offer only what you see here.

FranciscoI mean, it seems pretty obvious that it would look nothing like a set of DSA from Signature Plastics.
These are Cherry profile keycaps from GMK. So the frame of reference is more like this: https://originative.co/products/dolch Or one of the other variants as mentioned: https://originative.co/products/sky-dolch https://originative.co/products/skidolcha

LleiwynnOkay, so you're telling me something I didn't know. GMK is not like most other keycap manufacturers who regularly produce new keycap designs (legends)? GMK has no ability and/or desire to make new molds? They can only change the plastic colors using the same old legends every time? Wow... I never knew that.

FranciscoThey do make new legend molds, but it's for things like novelties and (perhaps) different modifier legends. But GMK has the "original" Cherry tools for keycap production. They're not going to go screwing with those machines very much. Nor should they - GMK's aesthetic is a classic.
To add, GMK has a fairly limited selection of colors as well, especially compared to a company like Signature Plastics (who makes most of the DSA and SA kits you're likely interested in). They can and do make custom colors (this set has a custom yellow in the Extras Kit), but you'll mostly see set designers playing in the sandbox GMK built. Again, I don't see this as a negative. It's just part of GMK's brand.

LleiwynnOnly 61 sets purchased instead of maybe 600+ tells you that the well is running dry... GMK needs to get with the program and offer something more modern. Adapt or die.

FranciscoI don't think that's the case at all. This isn't the best-looking GMK set I've seen (the mint green kinda makes the regular Dolch gray look a little brown to me) and there's been little hype for it. GMK sets still sell out on other sites and are in big demand on the secondary market, where they regularly fetch prices at or above retail.
The entire keyboard community is not represented by what you see on Massdrop.

FranciscoGMK offers what people want, which are custom colors on original Cherry profile keys. They already adapted and have produced custom novelties as well for most of the sets I've seen.
Not sure why you're trying to quote the sets sold at this point in a drop that has barely started. It also didn't have any existing hype surrounding it like Laser did. The rest is just preference of aesthetics.

FranciscoThis sets sales has nothing to do with GMK, just look at Laser, Nautilus Plum and Yuri. Its more to do with the colours of the set and the over saturation of Dolch sets currently.

SithYeYou're right... These choc/mint colors suck. I just ordered the new updated Maxkey Dolch set, doubleshot abs, SA profile with big centered legends and perfect coloring at 1up Keyboards for $99.

FranciscoA set that will of sold far less than any of the sets I've just listed, Maxkey are decent for the price, but the feel on their caps is so chalky, you have no ISO support and less support than this GMK set has. If you like SA and DSA more than Cherry profile then that's fine, but to say GMK should be making different profiles and legends just for you is redundant. You clearly just don't like their profile when, as I've said before looking at their other drops, Its clear you're very much in the minority. DSA 2077 only sold 140 base sets, If we were to follow your line of thinking SP has to do something with their big centred legends, as this set is very unpopular.

SithYeI don't understand your grammar. English is not your mother tongue is it? Which country are you from? I don't care about ISO. SA and DSA are completely different. Nobody said GMK should make anything "just for me" - so your comment is redundant and rude. Who said I don't like GMK profile? You're wrong again - I do like it. I don't like the GMK legends. Ok. You understand now?

Francisco 'Only 61 sets purchased instead of maybe 600+ tells you that the well is running dry... GMK needs to get with the program and offer something more modern. Adapt or die. '
You've clearly stated this, addressing your belief that GMK needs to adapt or die. You also say you dont like non centred legends, what is your proof that they need to change this? GMK Laser sold 2100 base sets. DSA 2077 sold 140 base sets. Sales of this set have NOTHING to do with GMK, you're not addressing these FACTS. I'm not going to address the fluff that's in your post as that is also redundant.

SithYeI don't have to prove anything to you. It's common sense that any keycap company with only ONE set of legends and no desire to produce any other designs is limiting itself severely in terms of growth as a company. Companies must either grow or shrink. A company that is stuck on one product is limiting it's growth. If GMK is doing well, I'm very happy for them. But it won't last forever if they don't improve the product selection over time. It's not difficult to adapt and make new molds. Sometimes it's difficult to get people to see past the end of their noses.

FranciscoGMK is doing just fine, homie. Don't like their sets? Don't buy 'em. No big deal. I don't understand why people come on these forums and complain about things, and then insult people when they have a difference of opinion. If you don't want to spend your money on something, don't do it. That's one fewer person in line to get better GMK sets, as far as I'm concerned.
