Ughhhh such a difficult decision. Either I get this or GMK Camping from elsewhere.... I guess I‘ll wait a little bit before deciding.

rowieI'd vote for camping. I didn't realize it went live already.

rowieGo for Camping. Better resell value, and Dolch clones are all over nowadays.

travdumpHow can you clone an Original which is all done by the same manufacturer?
The only clone copiers are any other company on the face of this Planet, trying to emulate the Great GMK Factory.
First get your facts straight before embarrassing yourself on a public forum like this because Dolch will always be here, long after 'Camping' disappears and gets forgotten ; )

Elrick...Dolch wasn't made by GMK. It was made by Cherry, for Dolch's PAC computers. GMK's Dolch and all of it's clones came after. Dolch sets and their derivatives are easy to make, and really easy to find. GMK Camping is a re-profile of SA Camping, a well-regarded set. So it'll likely sell better on the aftermarket.

travdumpAnd who bought those ORIGINAL molds from Cherry to begin with? Dolch PAC 486 first appeared back in 1989 with that famous key-set. GMK started in 1992 with those exact purchased molds from Cherry Corp, hence please specify when this so-called "Camper" first got produced?
GMK sunshine, is the only one that holds all of their original manufactured molds. Due to GMK holding those exact molds it now makes them the official Dolch manufacturer. Also for you to know here, GMK is a 100% German owned Company just like Cherry Corp once was, hence it still stays inside that unique Country, like other world famous manufacturers for example Mercedes-Benz, BMW, SAP, Volkswagen, Audi, Siemens, Adidas, Porsche.
Never saw any "camper" installed anywhere so again please provide proof here, that this key-set you keep mentioning beats or has been produced longer than the now famous Dolch series key-set from GMK?
You said it correctly that the Dolch is found everywhere mainly due to cheapo Chinese manufacturers, jumping onboard to copy this very famous keyset BUT their 'copies' are very inferior and sub-standard, compared with the Originally made GMK Dolch series, which is still the best World Standard in keyset design.
20 years from now the Dolch will still be here on Earth, produced by GMK for all serious purchasers to own and use, I bet your "Camper" disappears without trace never to be remembered again like so many previously designed keysets.
First you need to KNOW your history of the 'Dolch' before again, embarrassing yourself publicly ; )
Just amazing I still have to constantly REPEAT the facts to Morons who know nothing about the GMK company and what they produce ....

ElrickEasy man, no need to hate on GMK Camping. It's a pretty cool set, and personally it takes me back to camping trips as a kid.
Is Dolch always going to be a classic? Heck yes. Will people forget about GMK/SA Camping in a few years? Maybe. Should someone let that dictate which set set they get? No way! It's all personal preference after all.

LevelSteamSorry it just gets me when anyone puts down the "Dolch" as being boring or inferior because it then forces me to reach for my pitchfork and light some flames.
The one thing I keep hearing now is this "Camper or Camping" what the hell is it or when was it made?

ElrickThere was a set called "SA Camping" that was designed by a group of friends and enthusiasts to tie into both their love of keyboards and, well, camping. It generated a lot of interest after the group buy finished and people started sharing pictures of it, but due to SP's insanely long backlog for SA sets re-running it anytime soon was out of the question. So they moved the theme over to GMK as GMK Camping.
I personally really like the set and think it would look killer on a wood-framed board, but I'm all out of extra cash for keyboard stuff right now so I'm just gazing at both sets longingly.

Elrick, when I read LevelSteam's comment, I interpreted Dolch copy as a "Dolch with yellow legends, mint legends, orange legends, black legends, etc etc etc etc etc". Not an actual Tai-Hao copy or something. I thought of it as a "set that has been done so many times that it has become mundane".

Merlin64Thanks for the link but I already posted it.
I won't be in the "Camping" Group Buy simply because I don't trust 'no name' sites running any type of Group Buy.
If it aint here on MassDrop, I'm not interested ; )

ElrickOh really, Keyclack and Input Club are both big names within the community with the latter being larger and more well known. They are not no name sites by any means.
