Hi Everyone,
We have a quick update on the MT3 keycap set. Production is still in progress and we’re currently tracking towards a 6 week delay from our original ship date. We finished our first mini sprint of dye sublimation, and we found that the process took longer than what we originally estimated. This puts our expected ship date in the middle of December.
The team is working hard to make sure everything goes smoothly in these final stages of production. Also, we now have a member of our team on the ground at the manufacturer in China. He will be overseeing the completion of the sets and helping us monitor the progress.

We’ll update everyone on or by 11/17 with the latest status.
YanboWuDoes anyone have a photo of the production triumph set yet? I'd like to see that before deciding if I want to cancel or not... Also in case anyone links to the Oct 11 post on https://matt3o.com/ that key is light blue, not triumph teal.
YanboWuWhen ordering first-round custom work through group buys, delays are to be expected. I can understand that people dislike it, but in my opinion, that is just the nature of it.
YanboWuThanks for the update. I'm in it until the very end. I still believe that this is easily the most ambitious keycap set created. It isn't just coming up with an interesting colorway but an entirely new profile, putting matt3o in a league of his own. So that said, I definitely want to be there in the end when these are complete.
YanboWuSo hoping that these will arrive before christmas. Samples looks good, a bit taller than I imagined. Beige looks good, but I wish I had gone for the triumph mods. If people have the option to cancel, is it also possible to change an order at this stage?
Having been a project manager on a large building site (Battersea Power Station) I can assure you unexpected delays are never factored into the estimated time for work completion. Would be helpful for me if they were but sadly not...
RowethrenSame here although my work is computer programming, but the principle still applies in that you can never factor in unexpected delays because otherwise they wouldn't be unexpected. No matter what you do some things will always take longer than planned, the only way to factor that in is to add a stupid amount of extra time for unplanned delays, but then the client would just go see someone else who offers a more more realistic time schedule.
I wonder how people would react if Massdrop had added another 12 months to the original estimated shipping date, wich would also increrase the price of course, and then they would be able to ship nearly 10 months in advance of schedule, presumably making everyone happy ?
Agreed, I always pad deadlines too, but if you're doing something new or using a new technology or manufacturing a new custom profile from a new company then there's just no way you can properly evaluate the risks, so either you add excessive padding and get kicked in the shins by the client for having unrealistically long deadlines (and potentially loosing the client altogether), or you add what seems a reasonable amount of padding and get kicked in the shins by the client when you end up being late (and potentially have to suffer a pay cut for missing the deadline).
Anyway you look at it, getting things right takes a lot of experience and a little luck, but the first time you do something new you better prepare for some shin kicking because it's going to happen.
YanboWuIt is not bad enough that u delay our orders but u have top it off by cancelling our orders and make us order the items again. Be mindful of your international customers. Giving us refunds does not work on our favor because of exchange rate differences. I thought the Plank drop was bad, this is starting to look even worse.
schlepHey Schlep - good point with the international customers. I checked with our team, and even with currency exchange you should not have a problem (the refund amount and new charge should be equal or very close). That said, if you or anyone else does have a currency issue once you re-join, please reach out to our support team and they'll help you out.
YanboWuBTW, as a side-note, I'm not sure how I feel about the new font but I do like that you seem to have stopped plastering retail prices on custom-made products as that was really ridiculous.
Idef1xGordita (according to Font face ninja), I'm pretty sure it recently changed, about the same time the MSRP price disapeared on custom Massdrop products.
schoolbusToo true, that's why with these kits you have to order everything you could conceivably want when they drop. I just spent over $200 on the Oblivion SA set for that very reason. With matt3o's kit, because I plan to use it on a standard 104 key layout, I went with just the alphas, modifiers, and numpad. Very happy with what I picked.
YanboWuFYI I'm sure everybody here, including myself, is very much looking forward to the update today or tomorrow. Just a gentle reminder since I know it was a few days late last time and people were getting their pitchforks ready. ;)
RowethrenI might have to do mine as well. Just because I'm bored at the moment. Work has been slow, calm before the storm of Black Friday & Cyber Monday, don't judge me.
