Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. I really, really liked the cardboard boxes mine came in. Massdrop, can we have a drop for those? They seem to work well for long-time storage of caps, and I needed a system for long-time storage last year already.
I'd now like to have the iso-kit for these and switch the capslock with ctrl. Will there be a sale for leftovers soon?
The only misprint I've noticed is the K, but I haven't switched a full keyboard over yet so I might find others. Not a biggie. Some of the caps on the top row are a bit wobbly, like the F6 for some reason.
