What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

taken from: https://matt3o.com/dev-tty-round-2-harder-better-faster-sharper/ ============================================= Long time I haven’t posted an update about the second round of /dev/tty. As you all well know I wasn’t very happy with the dye-sub quality of the first drop and –honestly– how Massdrop handled the whole development phase.
Fortunately this time things are moving smoother. I’m getting prototypes at a constant pace and the first impression is very good.
First of all, legends look sharper. The dye-sub job –at least on my prototypes– is top notch. From the pictures below you can see on the left Round 2 on the right the old legends. You’ll notice less color bleeding and very fine edges; distance between letters is the same but characters are more readable.
Legend centering is also better or at least between specifics. Please bear in mind that it’s extremely tedious to dye-sub small concave surfaces and I think this time around they did a really good job. =========================================== TLDR: better dyesub job, better centering of legends. R1 was a bit fuzzy, kinda thick font, and it had a lot of crooked legends from what I remember. Matt3o believes those issues have been addressed at least in part according to the samples he received back in July.
Also 9/3 (Yesterday) was a Monday and a holiday. Shipping in the US is pretty much shut down for that weekend through Mon and takes a few days to catch up and backlogged work. Again, it'll happen, but there'll be some delay.
the profile is interesting, the board is comfortable but i just got it so still getting used to different switches.
I'd say Massdrop has done a good job keeping us up-to-date on the progress of this drop. Here's a summary:
• Original estimated shipping date was 7/31.
• About three weeks before 7/31, @YanboWu informed us that delivery was delayed and gave a new estimated shipping date "in late August" - let's call that 8/28. We were also given the option of canceling our order. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-matt3o-devtty-custom-keycap-set/talk/2138678?utm_source=linkshare&referer=AV5F4D
• About four weeks before 8/28, @JaleesaG informed us that the drop was further delayed and the new estimated shipping date was mid-September - let's call that 9/15. We were also given a credit of $10. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-matt3o-devtty-custom-keycap-set/talk/2167340?utm_source=linkshare&referer=AV5F4D
• On 8/30 (16 days prior to 9/15), @JaleesaG informed us that shipping will start about 9/7. This is earlier than the 9/15 estimate. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-matt3o-devtty-custom-keycap-set/talk/2186471?utm_source=linkshare&referer=AV5F4D
The clarity and centering of the legends are really good though! If only I didn't have these two minor but major issues 😅
