For what it's worth, I use the P1s daily and love them. At $199 I considered the P1s a bargain as they, in my opinion, performed well above their price. At this price they're an absolute steal.

sloowhandI have to agree. Although I ended up moving on from the P1s, they are an absolute steal at this price. Any IEM that I rather have than the P1s are over 5x this price.

sloowhandIve tried dozens and dozens of IEMS. I think from the P1 I went to the SE846 and settled on the Noble K10 CIEM. The K10 is amazing but I dont use it enough to make it worth it. So I am considering selling them and just getting these. Using the extra money for other things. Part of me is hesitant because I have yet to find a better IEM than the K10 for my preferences.

RochambeauxHa. Yes I agree but I did get them at a much lower cost since I bought them originally 2ndhand. I think I paid around 1100$. Still a boat load of money but I imagine I've lost more than that trying to find that perfect IEM for me.
But I imagine the P&L statement has a lot of green for Noble.

sloowhandAudiophiles are like wine snobs. If you pay fantastically inflated prices for something, of course it's worth it. Whether it actually is or not isn't the point. It's more of keeping the self inflated "expert" image inflated. To pay $2K+ for what amounts to maybe $100 in materials and labor and not like it would be admitting to yourself that you're a Grade A chump.

RochambeauxI don't understand this whole "audiophiles are chumps" thing going on in this thread. You can get really good sound for an extraordinarily good price if you look around a little (something like a Schiit stack or Audio-Gd with HD650s or 7KXX, or these headphones for this drop) but if you want to try to have the best sound possible and you don't have an issue with playing the price, go nuts and buy an HD800 S with your high end amp of choice.. There is a real sound difference between those $1600 monster headphones and the $300 mid-fi's, it just depends on if you want to spend the money on what amounts to a disproportionate increase in sound quality for dollar. The best sound possible is not bought by a lot of people and it takes companies development time and resources which is why that stuff is fucking dolla (and hopefully quality is part of the package too).

thebrassthiefhd800s is not 5 times better than hd6xx . at most 10% ( if i am generous) or 5%. but how do we quantify that 10%/5% is what separate us from mortals to audiophiles to marketing hifi company to snake oil seller to audiofool.
hd650 was the flagship, and certainly the audio world did not propelled 5 times when hd800s launched. well, the hd800s are still listening to old albums. no, modern album for justin bieber is not for hd800s.

needhelpI've owned the 800s, 600s and 650s. My all time overall favorite is the 650 but I do admit, the 800 gives you something that is difficult to find at a low price. It seems, most headphones are a give and take. The 800, although not my cup of tea, gave me a sound that just wow'd me. The comfort was unbelievable. The soundstage was so wide. But, i prefer something I can just turn on and melt in my seat and that is not the 800. So the 650 was my love. I cant really quantify how much one headphone is better than another because its just different.

CarsonerI don't know how this relates to the IEM drop, but I feel the same. HD650 is just better for enjoyment than the hd800. I really, really like Beyer dt880 600 ohm too, especially when amped up with insane power to spare and a clean source.

needhelpsounds like someone who's never heard hd800 S with a proper amp (or possibly at all) The hd800 s has I believe 1/10th of the harmonic distortion as the hd600's, with an even better frequency response. It's made with higher end materials, and is incredibly comfortable. There is definitely a large sound difference in the two headphones, some prefer the laid back sound of the hd650's, while some prefer the extremely analytical sound of the hd800 S. In fact it's so analytical it makes many recordings that sound great on the hd650's sound like utter garbage. Yes, some are just audio snobs, but some people actually need headphones that are that analytical, and yes they do sound much much much better. Not 5% better, much more. Looking at specs dont tell you the whole story with the control that the drivers in them have. For example listening to a piece with for say 30 parts going on at once (like a mic for each drum, multiple guitars, microphone for each of a bunch of backup singers, full works) the bass on mid fi headphones will be correct. The right note, but when you listen and focus on that note on the HD 800 S, that note is more accurate, more controlled. listen to a $300 sub speaker, and then a $1000 sub. Pretending they both have the same range in Hz, the cheap sub will hit all the right notes, but the more expensive sub will be more precise, less muddy, and quicker to respond. Same goes to headphones. Its also a personal thing, some like to listen to music, some people like me who record music and mix it need it to be precise and not hide any minute details. If you can't hear a large difference between hd650 and HD800 S, either you shouldn't be spending a lot of money on headphones (bad ears) or they weren't driven properly (poor amp choice, bad source, cheap DAC, things like that) There is a very large difference in sound, whether they're for you or not is not up to me, but you can't claim that they barely sound any better.

the 'sound' wont be day and night better, unless from HD800s with your expensive amp, the voice of justin bieber turned into someone else.

Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?

I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better. I also find that my PC38X don't get quite as loud as I would like and I was wondering if a cheap amp like the iFi Go link would draw a little more volume out of my phones. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BN6MM822?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I went with the PC38X since it was considered the best bang for buck headphones. Looking for a gaming/content audio setup

Hello! I'm looking for recommendations on audio setups. I'd be planning on using it mostly for gaming. Preferably I'd like a pair of large closed back headphones since I have a big head and jaw. I'd also like to hear myself through my mic with mic monitoring. As far as budget goes, I don't really have one. But under 600$ would be nice. I can go higher if needed. The audio setup would be connected to a high performance PC. Thank you in advance for any recommendations!

Hello, I just joined, primarily for the audiophile products. Looking at purchasing the NHT C3 speakers for our new living room. Space is about 15 feet wide by 33 long and they will fire long ways. Space is just for general listening, music room with all equipment is downstairs, so hoping they will fill it with sound nicely. Cheers.
