Just received mine (my first Mitch Lum top), and my feelings are mitigated.
LOOK: the general shape is great but the brass part is largely below my expectations. Not only does it look stained, but if seen through a magnifying glass it appears it is made of very low quality brass, with lots of small holes everywhere (the difference with good brass is obvious). It also seems that it has been re-polished after machining, a process that left small lines in all directions. Maybe someday, I'll try to do some polishing.
DESIGN: I think the design is great and the low spin times reported by others are mainly due to bad machining and to the low quality of the brass used: micro-holes produce inconstant density. As for the small and thin spindle, the gunner grip is excellent and it allows very easy and efficient launches.
PERFORMANCE: after seeing the previous reports, I was expecting the worst. On this point I'm less disappointed than expected (though still disappointed). My first spin out of the box was 10:44 mins at 22°C on my usual cheap 3x vanity mirror using skin oil as a lubricant. After 15 tries, I get 11:58 mins. I don't think I'll ever be able to get much more. As mentioned by others, there's some slight flutter.
SPINNING GLASS: I didn't try it; I think it's too small.I have a similar glass with same thickness but larger and it's not better than my 3x mirror.
