The same amount of questions and answers repeated differently about what one needs for their keyboard, even though it clearly says on the description page what kit is for what layout ಠ_ಠ - say no more. Gonna just lay it out here for you and save the discussion page being stretched further, as if it isn't long enough already. ➡ ➡ ➡ ➡ ➡ Press Ctrl+F(PC)/Cmd+F(Mac) and type your keyboard name to find it ⬅ ⬅ ⬅ ⬅ ⬅ Price point unlocks for all child/other kits?
What kits for your keyboard?
Scroll down, have a look AND read!

This list only covers the needed Default/Standard layout for a keyboard - grey modifiers. Colour accents (Bauhaus), see note at bottom. - The included space bar in the Alpha and Beta kit is the standard 6.25u.
- Keyboards with Topre switches need MX sliders. Already fitted with MX sliders or plan to, No MX sliders = keyset no fit.
- If your keyboard has the fatass ISO Enter key, you need to add the ISO Enter kit.

Standard 60% - Alpha/Beta, Basic Standard TKL - Alpha/Beta, Basic Standard Full Size (104keys) - Alpha/Beta, Basic Calc. This visual will help those who still have trouble getting to grips what Standard is and looks like:

ViraNow that I've seen these mock ups, it's pretty obvious why the recommendation is to go beta + icon and alpha + text.

ViraThis is awesome but now I might be more unsure. In particular, I have a Whitefox that I would like to outfit with accent colors to the maximum extent possible and I was under the assumption that the Bauhaus could be used in place of the Tsangan to achieve this. But here you write:
"Bauhaus kit - It is a novelties/gentle accents kit for the bottom row, not a complete replacement kit for any modifier kits. So don't go believing you can replace this with the Basic Modifiers kit. "-
_Any_ modifier kit? Including Tsangan? Now I'm doubting what I was told before that Bauhaus was just the colored version of Tsangan as far as coverage is concerned. Would you verify that I don't need Alphas+Basic+Tsangan+Bauhaus and Alphas+Basic+Bauhaus is enough? I'm "100% certain to have no intention going back to the grey modifiers or keep them."

neverfoxThe intention of the Bauhaus to not replace any modifiers kit is still there, since the Bauhaus kit doesn't have the exact type and number of keys compared to the tsangan kit like the 1u keys, or any other modifier kits to what they have. As I mentioned, it is possible to go for that replacement route in some case for one's desired custom layout preference. Firstly which layout did you go for on the whitefox? And have you reprogrammed any keys? Since you want the maximum colour change, I'm pretty sure you may get away without the tsangan.

ViraThanks for the explanation. I may just get both just for flexibility down the road. But in any case, I have the Aria layout and the only thing I've really customized is having Control instead of Capslock, Fn in the lower left corner and a Mac style arrangement of the bottom row keys.

ViraHello Vira, this ain't correct: Leopold FC660M - Alpha/Beta, Basic, Tsangan Leopold FC660C (MX) - Alpha/Beta, Basic, Space Bars
The second 2.25u shift isn't covered this way, extra modifiers are needed for both. Tsangan isn't needed, 1u bottomrow to the left of the 660M can be covered by 1u code of extra modifiers.

MakamiCorrected. Thanks for pointing it out. I said I was gonna check and correct it after dinner when someone mentioned it. It must of slipped my mind at the time when I was thinking its the 1.75u shift from the tsa kit and not extra kit. Human error after going through so many boards.

neverfox"flexibility down the road" thats one of the main points I took to consideration when constructing this post. Incase one did wanted to go back to the grey modifiers. In your case, you can swap the tsa kit for the bauhaus kit. The choice is yours if you do stick with getting both.

ViraGood Morning from the other side! (GMT time side)
Updated the post, here's the breakdown: - Added a freaking load of keyboards, even the Standard ones due to people still somehow end up having trouble figuring it out, so I popped them in. The list is now doubled over. I can say, I think this is roughly touching about 80% of the current market's keyboards out there.
- I've organised the list; it was still somewhat daunting for any freshmens even though I clearly listed the keyboard out. At the same time, I've categorised them to make it easier for people to hunt and look for a keyboard.
- Also, I have marked each keyboard with an abbreviation code with [S], [S-] or [S+] to help identify if the key is Standard or not. If it's standard one can look there at what's needed for the keyboard or refer to the visual mockup chart at the top. Clearly explained what each mark means.
- As mentioned, I've added a visual mockup chart to visually guide and show those who still have trouble understanding what Standard is in the keyboard community ಠ_ಠ Hopefully, and this should remove/nail out the remaining concern/confusion.
- Some minor little error and corrections were done.
And of course, any mistakes you may see, drop a note, and I'll sort it as soon as I can. Hopefully, this should clear up any confusion that occurs. If someone still ends up asking what kits they need for their board, let me know who it is, and I'd like to invite them for tea and talk about the universe and aliens existing alongside us.
Ever since I've posted this, there's been a vast improvement, people asking less and managing by themselves, I thiink. Regardless, it mostly nails down to specific questions by people; good or bad; I think it's good :] I know this post is now lengthy but refined so hoping it should be more friendly and approachable to any freshmans.
That's all for now. Oh, and also, Happy Lunar New Year! Whether you celebrate it or not, I still wish you all best wishes and good health AND mercy on all of us and our wallet this year for all the keycap sets and keyboards launching or anything we end up eyeballing then purchasing.
Gonna brew some tea~

MakamiThanks for all the help Vira. I had to study the kits for a day or two before I started to see a path forward. I was unable to decide between the Alphas or the Betas so I ordered both sets. (Gulp!) An alpha set for my Minila Air (pleasantly surprised that the Minila finally got some semblance of love) and a beta set for an as yet to be purchased TKL board. And thanks Mito. I'm sure I'll be following your future projects closely. +

Thank you! Send all thanks to MiTo for visualising out this beautiful keycap set. You still need the Tsangan kit, because the Bauhaus kit will only cover half of your bottom row due to the kit not having any 1u modifier keys. If you feel you want to maximise out the colour, you may want to get the Ortholinear kit. Hope that helps.

ViraMinivan - Alpha/Beta + (Basic, Tsangan, Extra, Mini Bars - depending on how you made your layout)
Sorry, still a little confused by the parentheticals. I have an arrow layout minivan, does that mean I'm juggling between the Tsangan, Extra, and Mini Bars? I know for sure I have to get the alphas with the basics, but I was a little unsure about the rest.
Also, would I be able to replace the alphas with a runic set?

blankpap3rHeya!
Sorry for my compiled post still not being clear enough. You may need all three kits with your layout.
Is your minivan the standard Arrow layout? If you've customised it, we may have to dig a little further. I have the standard arrow layout from my reference library, but hasn't been checked/updated for sometime now. Have a look at it and let me know if this is your exact layout; do feel free to change any key and pass me back the permalink. You can see what kit you need or I can help you check if you're still unsure. Here's the link: https://goo.gl/ZCxTlV
For the Dieter Rams runic kit, you can if you'd like to :]

ViraAwesome summary. Wouldn't the UHK split layout require 2x the Mini Bars? The keyboard has 2 space bars of 1.75u width each, and I believe the Mini Bars kit contains only 1 of them.

maexxxYou're correct, i'm waiting for mine too. I've given up to cover the UHK with Canvas, that 2.25u right ctrl is a bitch. I don't want to use a blank there, doesn't look good for me. I went with text all the way here, icon would be much easier to "hide" but this is the first keyset i prefer text. Therefore UHK is going to get Granite with icon modifiers :)
I had some mails with Laci a few days ago, because the footage shown at Crowdsupply doesn't show the correct keycapsizes there. His answer had been: "Our layouts and keycaps page contains the correct information. The pictures of the other pages are outdated and will be updated eventually." https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com/layout-and-keycaps

MakamiThanks for passing that information, makami! I thought it was a 2u at first because renders, videos and their photos show a 2u Ctrl but the FAQ sheet says 2.25. I still prefer a 2u Ctrl to be honest. When I went over the layout I couldn't find anything with a corresponding key; it was either something from an Icon kit or a Blanks. I marked down blanks because I thought it was more appropriate since it wasn't clear if a 2u or 2.25u cap was needed.

So you'll try Granite on the UHK? Won't that be the same story for the right Control key?

maexxxYes, sort of, but i've so many Granite sets of all different rounds with icons that it might not look that off like a text one stating shift for me. Hopefully the UHK will become a big success that pbt keycaps are going to happen later, other chance would be going complete blanks on the modifiers and choose some other alphas. Sometimes its good to have a larger variety at home, i'll see.

Virafor duck octagon v2, i only need the 1.75u shift from tsangan right? So replacing tsangan with extra would work ?

tuananhThat depends on how you've made your bottom row and what you have mapped. If you have 1.5u modifiers, you still need the tsangan kit. If you really want the Extra kit instead, you could repurpose keys from that kit instead, though you would likely end up with the wrong legends.

ViraMany thanks.
This layout (http://i.imgur.com/1RDasyV.jpg) uses 1.5 modifiers right?
Also is the spacebar from this shot 7u spacebar?

ViraCan you please tell me if there is a difference between the 1.75u Shift Key in the Tsangan Set vs the 1.75u shift key in the Extra Icon Modifiers set?

Vira@Vira @Makami @MiTo I'm thinking rogue and have my order look like this: Dieter Rams x1, Mono x1, Basic Icon x1, Bauhaus Icon x1, Spacebars x1, Blanks x2.
So Runic would cover the alphabets, Mono 1-9 covers the numbers in number pad, the secondary legends of the numbers row in the main cluster will cover the numbers row, Blanks 1u cover the F-row, Blanks 2u cover the 2u keys in the number pad. The rest of the 1u from Mono & Blanks will fill out a standard 104-ANSI layout.
I've double & triple checked and it should work. Though a 3rd, 4th & 5th set of eyes would be greatly appreciated as well :)

blankpap3rNo problem. If this is the exact layout you have then I suggest you add the basic kit too. You can still repurpose keys from the extra kit if you feel you just want the Extra kit.

eapdangWhich board are you kitting? if it is a standard size you may not need the space bar kit. Apart from that, everything looks good for the rogue look you want. I'd go for it, you won't regret. Even if you didn't you can always resell on mech market.

marshumaroAs eapdang has said, nothing, same thing, just both kits having it is to cater for different user layouts.

Virait's a Filco 104 ANSI so completely standard. The spacebar kit is there because there's no Alphas/Betas in that configuration. Thanks for your help man!

ViraThanks Vira. Sorry if I'm being dense, but for full coverage, betas with the colorful bauhaus look on a Leopold FC980M (basically the beta+icon mockup) I know I need Betas & Bauhaus... i'm a little confused if i need Basic modifiers, tsangan modifiers, or both. Any advice? Thanks!

CatboatHeya Cat, not sure if someone managed to help you or not, but wasn't at the desk. You would of needed the Beta, Basic, Tsangan, Bauhaus and Calc kit. I hope you managed to get these!

Virathanks! I did err on the side of caution and i picked up all everything mentioned except the calc kit in the end. looks like I'll have the 0-9 but not the function keys over there. Not the end of the world! Thanks for clarifying.

MakamiYeah, Granite would be the other option for my UHK as well. I have a variety of spares for that one. We'll see once it gets here :)
Final option for me would be to leave all the original modifiers on the UHK and just replace the alphas with PBT blanks. I type on Colemak and I'm proud of it, so I've swapped the keycaps around on all my keyboards. That's easy with Granite and XDA an any all-rows single profile keycaps; but the OEM profile on the UHK doesn't allow me to swap between the rows...
Well, we've still got some months to figure this out ;-)

KelaminYou're good. The Blanks and/or the Tsangan kit was to help those to cover keys that aren't available in their wanted legends or any other reason. People with really exotic layouts. If there is something missing in the end, you may need to repurpose any spare keycap(s) from your kits or get hold of your wanted kit from someone.

MakamiIt's been ages, but I finally got my UHK (https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com). I did put Canvas on it, and here are some pics. I must say I am quite pleased with the result!

As was expected, the right side is somewhat challenging because of the unusual key widths. I did prepare for this when I ordered my Canvas XDA packages, and all those extra packs had been sitting around at home just waiting for the UHK :)
I used a Delete for the 1.5u Backspace (which is close enough), but for the 2.25u Control on the right side my only choices were Enter and Shift. I went with the Enter key because at least it has the same colour as the left Control ;-)
I saw that in the new re-run of Canvas, they now put two 1.75u space bars into the 40s package, so it's now much easier to get both halves of the space bar; I had to buy two packs of Minibars, so now I am left with lots of extra space bars in a variety of sizes. Anyone in need of some smaller space bars?
My sincere hope is, now that UHKs are shipping, in the future some of the keycap sets will include those 1.75u bars, the 1.5u backspace, and 2.25u control. It's easier for same-row caps, but for those sets with sculpted rows, it's even harder, because the 1.5u backspace is Row 1 (you can get a Row 2 with some keysets).
Anyway, enough for today, gotta practice some typing! :-D
