Well the April 25th ship date has passed on a item I purchased in October 2017, can I have a refund or a credit? I think you have been holding my $80.41 long enough. I'd like to spend it on something I'll still want by the time I get it. Thank you, theo!

theonugYeah I get where you're coming from. I can understand delays in production but what exactly have they been doing for that past 6-7 months where they had a delay like this so late in the process?
Either way: this has kinda burnt me on buying stuff from massdrop. I completely understand waiting a longer time on group buys but without good communication on why I'm waiting so long on something that realistically shouldn't take this long it's becoming frustrating.

JohnklacksReally? lol, why would I cancel my order if I'm not going to get my money back? That's just a silly answer.

theonugJust providing my input! It would make sense that you do get money back but i can't say from experience!

theonugI think you should wait at this point. It's not that much longer until they're shipped, and you'll lose money by 'selling' these back at the purchase price instead of what they'll go for on the market.

itsREVLiterally if you scroll down the page there are several updates explaining exactly what caused the delays. I'm not sure how fully you understand the components that make a group buy like this work but this requires coordination between the designer (MiTo), Massdrop, and GMK, all of whom have many other things on their plates as well. As they stated, the delay was the result of the MiTo's dissatisfaction with the colors to be used in the production process. As these colors will be used to produce thousands of keycaps it is important that they are gotten right the first time. Unfortunately, GMK, being a business, cannot afford to handle the fine details of tuning the colors for production before an order has actually been placed.
I, for one, am glad MiTo cares enough about the quality of this set to make sure it is the best it can be. If you can't handle minor delays maybe group buys are not for you. For the rest of us, some things are worth the wait.

A_Penguinlol "if you don't like it don't buy" I hate that mentality. I know good and well how group buys work and I know that this still took too long. So go ahead and step off your pedestal and stop fanboying over an obvious fuck up on their part.

itsREVI'm well aware of the precarious logic that underpins my sentiment about "deal with it or get out" but I fail to see support for your criticism. Delays like the one here are inherent to the structure of a group buy. Obviously, things like this could be avoided but not without compromising other elements of the system. To guarantee delivery of a product for given deadline certain elements of design and manufacture must be controlled. The nature of bringing a new product through manufacture often runs into issues and as I touched on earlier GMK has no incentive to prepare production before an order has been placed. Massdrop could prepare a down payment of some kind but GMK might not do that and it burdens MD with more risk.
I am curious in what way you think this could have been handled differently. I think the communication has been good, especially compared to previous drops that have been delayed. They have been seemingly transparent about the delay and its cause. I understand it's not ideal to wait an extra month but it seems like a modest compromise when you consider the context.

A_PenguinAgreed, I think this outcome is much more preferable over everyone being dissatisfied over the colors as well. The original ship date is an estimated forecast and not something set in stone.
