T0mb3ryGMK Carbon drop page says "$68320" saved, and we've got price dropped from $130 -> $100 = $30 saved per base kit. A guesstimate would be 68320/30 ~ 2277 base kit? Am I close? :))
EDIT: 68320 / 35 = 1952.00 -> the magic number?
Nautilus is a good looking set. Would've picked it up if I didn't know this existed.
to be clear, I don't intend to make this a dick measuring contest among sets
What was the number of base kit for GMK Carbon then? From T0mb3ry's comment, it sounded like Carbon sold more than Nautilus
And remember the GMK Carbon drop page only has Base kit, not combination of all the kits like Nautilus or Laser, which is why I made the simple calculation like I did :)
eapdangbutting in, manofinterest had a stream before with Jessica and they were surprised to find out that Plum outnumbered Carbon. Waduhek where is the truth
Your numbers are not right. Look at the tumbnails numbers.
1952 (base sets) + 953 (Novelties) + 407 (Ergodox) + 551 (Addon kits) = 3863 total
And yes its without proxies.
T0mb3ryits total number of base kits sold down there in the bottom right corner where it says purchased... then the add-on kits don't count right? I been wondering this my self! Silly but I like to figure out things like that.
Also completely unrelated but do you think we will ever see carbon make a return? I missed out... my self. I know it wouldn't be this year if it does.
HotRoderXSince all the kits were sold separately the numbers in the thumbnails are clear.
Regarding the GMK Carbon return i dont have any info. Maybe next year.
T0mb3ryThanks!!! wouldn't have to be GMK just any carbon would rock honestly the fact its not a straight out no.. makes me very happy. There so many amazing keyset designs out there.. its like pokemon gotta collect them all you know. Plus you and mito are two of my favorites Key designers.
" Edit: for some weird reason carbon is linked alone on its site. Why is not add-ons kit sharing the same page as base-kit? (so it seems carbon is 1952) "
A bit of GMK drop on MD that I know of:
GMK TA Royal Alpha was the first GMK drop to have multiple kits on the same drop page, which 1st attempt failed spectacularly, 2nd attempt consolidated the kits from the first and barely make MOQ with MD buying up the numbers.
So all GMK drop before that + GMK Carbon only had 'base' kit in the drop. As people buying up Carbon and were clamoring for additional kits, TOmb3ry decided to launch those kits in the middle of the base kit run, which resulted in 3 separated drop pages. And all 3 drops were successful, which led to Nautilus & Laser now using the 'multi-kit' GMK drop structure.
T0mb3ry@Zambumon@Raccatography@eapdang Here is a summary comparing Massdrop numbers for six of the keycap drops this year. (EDIT: Removed erroneous assumptions & clarified data source.)
dvorcolYou should ignore the spreadsheets posted here since they are always outdated. The tumbnail tho tell the total order without proxies. You should not mix the GMK Carbon with SA Carbon since these are different drops and that missleads on the first view. For SA Carbon the chinese proxies were at 5k+. At the end it was 22k+ kits but they went down because not every buyer could be properly charged.
T0mb3ryI didn't mix the two Carbon drops. The red notes are to show my thinking that Massdrop combined them for the SA Carbon Purchase number. I confirmed MD did this for the second OLKB Preonic drop:
https://www.massdrop.com/buy/preonic-mechanical-keyboard/talk/1810358?utm_source=linkshare&referer=AV5F4D I know the Massdrop spread sheet are not necessarily the actual final numbers, and don't always include proxies (although I understand from YanboWu that Oblivion's & Legacy's are final, with proxies). But I cannot figure out a way to calculate Base order numbers from Purchase numbers. And comparing Base numbers is the best way I can think of to estimate how many keyboards used each set.
dvorcolPuh. You cant calculate the purchased amount of each kit. Tho you can try to do so with latest spreadsheet update but it will be assumption.
Regarding GMK Carbon and SA Carbon they are not combined together. Even the first SA Carbon round is not combined with the second round. Second round started from 0 and not with order count from the first round. The preonic numbers are definitely a bug since the site is always reused from the previous drops and for what ever reason it took the number from the first drop.
T0mb3rySorry, I meant no offense to anyone by graphing Massdrop's numbers. I just wanted to combine them in one summary to make discussion easier.
I will remove my incorrect assumptions from SA Carbon's Purchase number and edit my graph post.
