Hey everyone,
The Laser Keycap set is making its way through production! We estimate that sets will be complete by the end of the month and ship to members in mid July.
As soon as I get my QC units, I'll definitely be posting a few pictures. In the meantime, @Mito did add a teaser for the novelties kit on his instagram if you want to check it out.
We will update everyone again in early July.

KM1337If it's anything like the planck drop right now, you may as well be getting an email with a big fat fuck you as the subject (if you get an email at all)

GrimlioWhoa, it's been awhile since I heard a complaint about the Planck drop! I think that was an anomaly.
EDIT: Oh, I just saw that the new Planck drop had issues too.

zzzaacchhYeah, it seems like something always goes wrong with the planck drops. I would like to believe this is because Jack Humbert is always trying to improve things but I can't speak to the most recent drops. I got mine a year or two ago and while it took a little more time than expected I ended up very happy with the end product. The drop before mine had plate issues and my drop had issues with FCC inspection or some nonsense. I don't sweat delays and honestly MD's communication about issues has gotten a lot better in my opinion.

A_PenguinPeople are saying on this one that the production company didn't make enough, which is preposterous. I bought mine straight from OLKB, which is only slightly less frustrating, with somewhat better communication through Reddit.

zzzaacchhYeah, back when I got mine OLKB was usually out of stock and more expensive by a bit so it made sense. I don't know what the cost savings are these days or what extra options the drops offer but the Planck is a mature product at this point and it seems like the main benefit of the drop is some savings and perhaps unique options. I am just surprised that so many impatient people still join drops, though. As group buys go, being able to count on actually getting the final product is way more reliable on MD than the way buys used to be. Delays are a bummer but are just an unfortunate reality in smaller-scale manufacture and custom ordering.

KM1337It's a coming!
The July 4th midweek is really screwing up a lot of work at the warehouse but these should start fulfilling by next week. I will sync with the team and also do another update for everyone via email once I have the fulfillment schedule locked down.

YanboWuWait... so you're saying they're here in the US? Any way you can try to get the warehouse team to ship orders to the west coast with a little priority? We always end up getting our sets 1-2 (sometimes 3) weeks AFTER they start shipping. It's infuriating. If they focused on those orders that take the longest to ship, we'd all be getting them around the same time.

atari.zero.tvI understand the sentiment, especially being in Europe myself (which means I not only have to wait for them to get here, I have to wait another 2-3 weeks for them to clear customs every time), believe me, but wouldn't giving priority to certain zones kinda shaft the ones living closer to MD's warehouse? I mean I get wanting everyone to receive their stuff around the same time roughly but you'll be "screwing someone over" no matter how you handle this if you try and make that a priority.

Vigrithsure, so why not Europe first, then west coast/Alaska and Hawaii, then people closer to the east coast? There's no feasible way to get EU orders "at the same general time" because MD has zero control over shipping and customs speeds, but within the US borders they can make it make some kind of sense.

atari.zero.tvWhenever it's time to ship, maybe give everyone the option to upgrade to expedited shipping? FedEx smartpost is mad slow, I hate it.

atari.zero.tvI feel like trying to make a system to organize shipments and everything by where the address is will and then shipping out in that order will also make it take a longer time, not to mention east coast-ers get screwed over by that system. You can't really win

KM1337Honestly, for packages lighter than 8 Oz I'd love a USPS option. 3 days is typical CONUS. So much faster than fedex and way more reliable. SmartPost is even stupider because there's a day where they hand it off to the USPS and it takes an additional day.

I think you're onto something about Fedex using bikes... my Apogee Chef knife is scheduled for delivery Friday July 13th, it left Grove City, OH at 1 AM Saturday and hasn't reached anywhere yet. Why?
search
Because Google says it takes 63 hours by bike to transfer it to KC MO, which means it will reach there by around 4 PM Monday...
search
And then I assume it will be sorted to leave Tuesday night, and take another 21 hour bike ride to Broken Arrow, where it will be transferred to USPS, who will take all day Thursday to "sort" it, then put it on a vehicle for delivery Friday. There's no other logical explanation...
