Mechanical Keyboard Sound Isn't That Simple
Figure 1: I couldn't think of a more literal way to represent this article if I tried... Looking back just a few years ago, there’s no doubt that the huge influx of people that joined the hobby at the peak of the COVID pandemic were drawn to keyboards by way of YouTube, TikTok, and other audio-visual content platforms. Even as the output from these content creators has waned in recent months, their collective impact and legacy on the keyboard hobby is rather firmly etched in the history books. As a result of all of their sound tests, build logs, and opinion videos, the message is clear to any new person joining the hobby: mechanical keyboards are all about the sound. Thock this, clack that. Whether it’s keyboards, keycaps, or even singular switches, seemingly everyone new to the hobby meticulously pores over each component of their keyboard not in an attempt to figure out how it will feel in hand, but how it will sound as they’re furiously grinding their way out from...

Halo switches are tactile like Cherry MX Clears, Box White switches resemble Cherry MX Blues and Speed Silver sort of feels like Cherry MX Reds. All of them are compatible with RGB because the keyboard itself has RGB.
I assume you have an aluminum supplier and a machine shop. My question is does, do you work with the supplier or does the machine shop acquire the aluminum billet for you? Also the PCBs are probably manufactured with common components that are needed for QMK compatibility. Do you guys use a PCB manufacturer who does the acquisition of the components or do you buy the components yourself and just deliver them to the PCB house to assemble?
Thank you in advance for the answers, and I apologize for any ill will you may perceive, as I may have come off aggressive in the past... Thank you!
Why do you defend what is a win win for everybody. Transparency regarding suppliers has never been discussed and I feel we are getting played when Massdrop creates a part sells 1500 but splits it across two drops, not extending the savings to the customer.
Maybe I am wrong, but numbers would close the case and I think everybody would be interested in the details. Again, I do not want to argue, I made a mistake opening my critic by just blasting MiTo for jumping on the hype train, I was wrong he can do what he wants, but I should be allowed to make these simple requests; I hope people can see the validity.
And in the corporate world, yes, organizations ask about suppliers and know the real cost of parts and labor and wouldn't accept the first price blindly pasted on the invoice. Which is counter to the relationship here... Massdrop markets itself as the intermediary but operates like any traditional online store.
