I just received the Headphone and I will start burn out soon. A beatiful new copper balanced cable will pair with Ether CX and i'm really excited to hear the result.

sigmoniusI just started the burn in. Also Mr Speaker writes that 100 hours are necessary. I can say that the Ether CX needs power, sounds very clean with an ample scene. Some problems with female voice, I hope will change with burn in. Bass deep and controlled. Perfect for my taste. Mids and high need time to assest.

sigmoniusToo early to tell, gotta break-in the drivers. Right now mine are lacking bass and a bit bright.

DiMorasame here with being bass light. No where near Emu Teak. They don’t seem bright to me. I’m sure bass will improve with break in. My Grado GS1000 e were bass light out of the box. Not the case after proper break in. Love the look, quality and fit. Very comfortable to wear.

Steve538I have never heard the Teaks before but I do have Mahogany X00s - which I believe are similar (but not as good). Assuming the Teaks have similar bass to the X00s I would be surprised if the CX will ever have that much bass. If the CX ends up sounding anything like my Ether Flow Open 1.1s they will end up being a very neutral sounding headphone... Slightly warm, but not "V-shaped" as my X00s are. Bass is a strong point in the X00s, but I find they are fatiguing to listen to over long periods - hence ordering the CX. I am only 6 hours into the break in but I just did a quick (3-minute) listen on of them on the 789 being fed with Google Play Music (MP3 - just for break in). They do seem to have a similar overall signature to my EFOs from what I heard (no surprise) - although the driver, unsurprisingly, sounds "tight" at this point. I might fire up my Liquid Platinum and some Tidal tomorrow for a better listen, but I really want to give them the benefit of the full break in before doing serious evaluation. As is the case with my EFOs, they are very light weight (for a full size can) and very comfortable. They don't have the hinged earcups, but I don't notice a difference in comfort with the newer headband on the CX.

Steve538Mine after at least 20 hors burn in, sound very natural, detailed with a right amount of bass, and round high. I'm hearing last Sun Kill Moon on Tidal and the minimalistic songs of Kozelech flow natural with big amount of small details that I can't found on my 4xx. I tried white fences but i disliked being the resultig sound less detailed and and closed. I think I will remain on the original tune. Finally, the CX are very light and wear perfect with no fatigue at all. Again it needs a lot of power ( i'm using my LCX + SDAC fully balanced amp with high gain on and volume at 6).

RocfortNow i?m hearing DX portable with my mjo. But adding the single end mode to prblem of power the resulitng sound is ample, datailed but thin with slow trasient and few bass. As I supposed you need power to increase bass, not fences at all.
