Can anyone comment on how these would compare to my current Shure SE846?
I've thoroughly enjoyed the SE846, but not without doing a few things: 1. removing the dampening foam from the blue filter for white filter-like highs, without removing too much bass. 2. typically EQing them by cranking up bass in the 10-120 Hz range a few dB, and the highs as well.
I really enjoy a V shaped sound signature and listen to EDM & Trance music 90% of the time. The SE846 have been great to me, and sound phenomenal when I EQ them... but with a flat EQ, I don't enjoy them as much. The quality of the bass is phenomenal though, and overall I love the detail and soundstage for an IEM.
I also own HD800S and prefer them over listening with my SE846, except the SE846 do produce better sounding (more subwoofer-like) bass, in my opinion.
If I could get HD800S levels of detail & treble out of the K10U, that might be enough to persuade me to sell my SE846 and pick these up instead. Would hate to jump into this blindly though, so any insight is appreciated!
NitemareI find the 10s lack BASS, especially compared to SE846.
I did the opposite haha, I use the black(bass filter) in my SE846 and crank up the highs when I can. I just can't get enough of the bass on the SE846. Btw to the person that commented, I believe SE846 with the bass filter has a better bass than the TH-X00.
NitemareThe Vega sounds like subwoofers strapped to your head. The rumble and kick of the bass is the most insane of any iem i have ever heard. But Vega is really lacking in regard to details and seperation when compared to the Andromeda. Comparing both is of course comparing apples to oranges. Andromeda has fantastic clarity and layering while the Vega is the best dynamic iem ever made. I have the HD800S , so of course I am biased towards the Andromeda. The andromeda is the iem equivalent of the hd800s after all( with slightly more bass). Hope that helps
