HefeThanks, but they're talking about the Encore which isn't equivalent to the K10u. Only one guy mentions it to the 846 in a sentence. He even says the 846 is bass heavy with the white filter which is confusing. I daily mine with the black filter and so I'd be more curious with a comparison to that extent.
jaydunndidditThat WAS an interesting read... Now I simply don't know whether to keep enjoying my 846's (which I adore) or drop another $900. Maybe if I deliberate just a little longer this drop will fill up and make my decision for me.
BobJS1Exact same boat. Kinda glad I read it prior to impulse buying this time. Personally, I think I'm just going to see that $900 that's burning a hole in my pocket and get a better portable amp/dac and save the rest. Kinda bummed as these are beautiful and intriguing but may not be the sidestep from the 846s I'm ultimately looking for.
BobJS1Let's put it another way: SE846 are bass-heavy.
K10s have a slight bass hump, fairly more so than so-called "reference" customs, but it won't reach the level of SE846 or AK T8iE, which are more suited for bass lovers.
If I had to compare, bass level is much more in line with Fidue Sirius, hybrids which are in the same pricerange as these K10s.
