Well first of all: Oh. My. God. I mean, I was going to try writing something that would describe the way unboxing these new Noble/MD hybrids, which arrived this afternoon after a pretty long minute, took me from glory to glory with all the little touches (the cleaning tool that came with the 5 sets of sleeves/ tips has a tiny magnet that keeps it near the metal in the outer box instead or rolling immediately under the sofa into the Black Hole) and that was all truly a dopamine-drenched pleasure, but then I tried them with some music.
Oh. My. God. This is the most fun I've had on. a Massdrop delivery day yet. These little IEMs are a wonder. And I thought they wou be at least a little big and uncomfortable , but they're not. I have owned a lot of IEMs - I once lost a pair of Shure 846SEs on the subway - broke my heart - and that's where I basically started my discovery of high end audio after the horrible drought brought by the curse of iTunes and the Dictatorship of the MP3. I've never heard anything so lively and just ridiculously awesome as just the first experience of the imaging and, yes, soundstage these Nobles can produce. Then there are the crystalline pure highs, the sturdy lows and glimmering midrang as I move from piano to string quartets to female vocals and dizzy finger-snapping bebop. I'm going to try and not say anything more about the superior build quality or the virtually noise-free cable. Or how elegant the packaging and the hard carry cases (there's a big one for accessories and inside that, a little one that is the color of whiskey and just the slightest bit translucent for the buds) or the extra supplied cable that plugs into my damned iPhone 7, or the perfectly designed sleeves that all look too small but aren't, and did I mention there's a magnetic cleaning tool? But it's all just about as close to perfection as I could have hoped for, and then I play music through them and I remember that life doesn't completely suck after all., so forgive me but WTF? This day was worth it. That's all. Most are a disappointment at best, but this was a good one. Thanks !
