Hey Everyone,
IEMs are one of the most important product categories in the Audio space, but there’s always been a huge gap between affordable and premium units (performance, design, build quality, etc). In an effort to make premium IEMs accessible, we spoke with several possible partners about an IEM collaboration earlier this year.
Through those discussions, we found that Brannan and John at Noble Audio best understood our intentions. Over the past few months we’ve worked with the team at Noble to produce the X, a premium IEM (made in the USA, proprietary BA drivers, CNC’d aluminum faceplates) tuned for the masses with a price to match.
The sound signature is a mixture of fun and clarity, seeking a balance between styles for the breadth of the community.
If you have other questions, I’ll be by to answer them.
Thank you for your interest in this drop! These products wouldn’t be possible without the support of enthusiasts like you.
ebjarrellA lot of high end IEMs are hand assembled. I don't know specifically about MassDrop, but in my experience, for small batch, custom, special products like this, it will probably take a few months just to produce units in addition to Noble's current traditional product assortment.
One interesting thing I just noticed: there are only 2000 spots! I know I'll be trying to get mine the second they go live. I don't want another HD6XX situation where I don't get in because I checked the page 30 minutes after it went live :(
ebjarrellHi ebjarrell,
Thanks for your interest and your question....
There will be about a month for ordering and receiving parts/materials, then a couple of months to make/assemble. I may have added a little time to be safe, hope that we can bring that date in.
After they arrive at our warehouse, should be about 10-13 days to those in the US. Hope that helps!
RavisI was on the hd6xx as soon as it went live....30 minutes earlier probably would not have helped honestly. I clicked buy for 2 hours until they all were gone. However, I was one of the lucky last minute e-mail invitees. Don't beat yourself up about being a bit late on that one...perhaps these iems will help soften the blow? :)
AlexkingTrue, however as Katana has a more reference type of sound, it would be interesting whether they have based this development on Katana, or perhaps on Kaiser (more colorful sound), or even some other and completely new setup ;)
Valgar_Dall the nobles use knowles (either custom or off the shelf). they probably aren't the exact same ones since they are different sound signatures. the kaisers have 10.
CEE_TEEThis seems like an interesting produce for me...how could the sound signature be described in comparaison to Shure SE425? Could it be close to the Fostex TH-X00, wich i also have, since it is also considered to have a 'fun' sound signature?
CEE_TEEWhen these ship out, are they all going to be at the same time or in batches? Curious as to whether early orders mean a faster ship date. Thanks!
CEE_TEEHello Everyone,
In case you are wondering, a 2-pin to 3.5mm cable is included with every purchase. We will add the 3.5mm cable to the "What's Included" section of the drop page.
Still trying to get more details on the Lightning Cable, but did learn that the materials and design of the cable make it difficult to add a microphone and controls. So for this launch, the lightning cable will not have a microphone or controls. (There may be a Lightning Microphone Cable in the future.)
Thank you so much for your support of this drop! We are really happy to be able to bring this to you...
CEE_TEEUPDATE on Lightning Cable from Brannan Mason of Noble:
"For all of those asking about our Lightning cable, we are pleased to be able to offer this option while still utilizing our black Noble cable material that so many enjoy. There's no mic/controls on the cable as the cable composition of our black cable (quad-braid, SPC) does not lend itself to this kind of componentry (volume is controlled at the device level). As for the presence of a DAC, we are working with our manufacturer to provide the most accurate information possible and will circle back once we have all the details. That being said, we have tested the cable extensively across various Apple devices running different versions of iOS and can confirm it works and sounds great.
The cable will be available for purchase directly via our website as well so that all Noble customers can enjoy their IEMs/CIEMs with the latest Apple devices."
