Why aren't these moving?
I thought they would sell out like hot cakes
The 5000 units of HD6XX sold out in mere minutes, causing more anger and despair than the sum of Donald becoming the president; the recent South Korean protest for their president to step do; Dennis Rodman ravashing Kim Jong Un's first lady.
I recently purchased the actual HD650s for a good price of $350AUD (~260USD) during the Black Friday Sale. I don't know what the rage was about for the HD6XX when the real ma-coy can be bought for a slight premium but you get an actual carbon fiber headband which is more expensive build than the cheapen down plastic on the HD6XX. Not something that is trying to be a cheap clone of the HD650. Needless to say, I am very satisfied.
Now if only they do a cheapen down version of the Almighty Orpheus for sub $5000-$10,000, even if it sounds 90% of the Orpheus, then Massdrop has my money.

swiftsword69I would guess it is because the HD6XXX massdrop deal was for an established product. The Noble X has never been sold to the public, and has essentially one official review on head-fi, that claims that the Noble Katana ($1,850) is bested by a $4.99 ear bud.

TheDocYea I saw that review and it gave me some serious concerns about these but it seemed to be a very clear case of that guy just really not digging the tuning of these and potentially other noble products. Though with some further clarification from fullcircle over there, I am confident in staying in this drop.
I think a bigger reason though for these not flying off the shelves is that I think outside of the audiophile community, noble is probably not well known, whereas sennheiser is a pretty well known company to a lot of people. Not to mention the coverage the 6XX got before that drop seemed to be way more than this one got.

swiftsword69The HD650 comes with carbon fiber headband? You've handled the actual HD6XX to determine the cheapen down plastic and ascertained that it is in fact a cheap clone of the HD650?
Recently I tried out the HD650 and for the life of me, the headband looks and feel like a well made plastic...not carbon fiber though...

swiftsword69its got carbon fibre somewhere in the band head of the hd650 although the top part of the headband just feel like a rubbery shock absorbing/dampening material.
Yup the hd6xx is not on par in the quality department from my experience. Definateky more plastic and less of the soft touch rubbery material has been used through the build.
Ive had both the hd650 and hd6xx in my hands before albeit not at the same time in my opinion, the hd6xx feels less the original hd650.

swiftsword69Good that you enjoy your purchase, but your comparison of HD650 to HD6XX is way off. There are no parts made from carbon fiber in HD650, it's carbon fiber reinforced plastic, same material as in HD6XX. Really, the only difference anyone could find is color and cable length, apart from that HD6XX is as "real mccoy" as HD650.
