Well, this drop is anything but a straight forward stampede to the max units. I know what it HAS inspired me to do and that's go and get an ear impression, which I've wanted to do for ages (work, kids, wife, blah...you know). Reason being; I keep looking in this price range, and I'm going to swim in the same waters all the time if I don't do something. If I buy 5 sets of $300 earphones, I may as well have jumped into the deep end and gotten something custom and high-end. So I'm off to delve into the CIEM world. Thanks to having read so much about Noble due to this drop, I expect I'll be paying them a visit...sorry for the ramble y'all. Maybe some of that resonates with others though. I see so many people saying they have equal priced stuff and wondering if this will be up/down/side grade....maybe it could be a plan to save more and go bigger. Or perhaps you just want a bunch of similar grade IEMs with different sound signatures. Either way, enjoy the music!

jATdGM32Thanks. Sorry to hear about your issue though. Was it the fitting or the manufacture that was the cause?

zakalwepay attention to how you hold your jaw when you get impressions. when I got mine I held it slightly ajar and as such my earplugs fit me most comfortably with my mouth open.....so yeah, keep your trap shut the whole time

zakalwe(tl;dr below) got em initially, fit wasn't great, so sent them back within the 30 day refit period. still not awesome fit. got new impressions, ordered a reshell, and when i received them it was better, but i still wasn't happy. i sent them back within the 30 day refit (from the reshell order) again, and when they came back i was able to use them for a while, but i began to notice other fit issues. basically i completely stopped using them, until i decided that i would try ONE LAST TIME. new impressions and another reshell. we'll see how it turns out.
tl;dr currently on fourth reshell, with third set of impressions. could have purchased a higher end ciem at this point. Hope Noble's labs can get that fit to level amazing on the first iteration! ;P

tvorThanks for the tip. I guess that's why singers still have to tape theirs in sometimes, what with all the jaw movement.

jATdGM32Wow, that is frustrating. Once you've started the process you can't settle for less though. That's the point of going custom so I totally understand your perseverence

zakalweYeah. I suppose you could mov it around while they are setting. Idk how that would change it though. your canals deform and move quite a bit.

jATdGM32Is this a noble product with fit issues?

jATdGM32this is one of the reasons why I have always hesitated getting CIEMs. I've always wondered how I'd ever be able to convey WHICH part of the CIEM didn't quite fit for them to make the proper adjustments

TheDocNot a Noble product. no company is "immune" from their customers having fit issues though. Consequence of the process, i suppose.

WilzRight, it all comes down to trial and error, at best. Corrections are made based on your instruction, essentially. Even if you describe perfectly, and they understand perfectly, without you there to test as they correct, no guarantees.
I wish there were a way to make some corrections with some sort of material and either be able to leave it like that, or send it to a reshell company with spot corrections so that it could be scanned and 3d printed from the new scan, or the shell with spot corrections could be used to make a new mold.

zakalweJust received my ciem, and the fourth iteration fits perfectly. No form of movement could break the seal, there are almost no differences in how the left and right sit in my ears, and i basically wore them to sleep last night (couldn't sleep on my side though).
went with a different audiologist and company for this reshell. Glad i did so; for once, no need to send the ciem back for a refit. Lol

jATdGM32Hey that's great news. Sounds like the change of companies was a good call. Do you think there's a link with the cost of the fitting and the quality? I found two audiologists and one is nearly double the cost of the other. I want to save money where possible, but wondering why they are so different. I already know the answer really: have to just try one out!

zakalweby fitting, do you mean the re-shell or the impressions?
I've found audiologists that charge USD 50-300. I went to an audiologist that I found through a ciem company. The impressions are half the battle, but I don't think you need to be spending 300 on a set of impressions.
When it comes to re-shelling, the best you can do is check out what other people who have received a re-shell from that company say about the fit, and even then, your result is unique to you.

jATdGM32Sorry, yeah the impressions. I think you've answered the question though, so thanks. I think I might ask the ciem company for rec's in Canada. Cheers mate.
