I would love to know how these compare to the Shure Se215s.
Edit: Picked up Audio Technica IM70s. They sound pretty great. I'm not a fan of the over-ear fitting but I'll get used to it. Massdrop's NuForce EDC IEMs look great and all, but I sure would've loved to see or read a review from some Youtube audiophile influencers. Perhaps I'll buy a pair next time around.

rheechashaipuMany have said that the SE215 are outclassed by many things at a lower price nowadays. IMO the only thing that keeps Shure relevant in the IEM world is their name.

jjwfrCould you name some good competitors to the SE215? I'm all for good deals.

rheechashaipuIf you're looking for that bassy sound signature that the SE215 is known for, one I've personally owned and enjoyed in that price range is the
Oriveti Basic: thick sub bass, warm and slightly dark sound, very charming male vocals. Doesn't sound congested or murky. Laid back and bassy listen. Has detachable cables like the Shures, but one ups it with its aluminum construction. The stock cable is also far more ergonomic than Shure's. $99
Though the TFZ Series 5 doesn't have detachable cables, people have often said that it stomps the SE215 in terms of sound quality. $50
Another mention is the Tennmak Pro -- people have said nothing but good things about the Tennmak Pro which has detachable cables and a warm bassy sound. $25
And of course, these Nuforce might even be comparable to the SE215. IMO these are really attractive looking IEMs too.

jjwfrNice recommendations! I'll do my research on them. Heck, the bit of research helped me discover the SE215 durability issues which is good considering I plan on using a nice pair of IEM's everyday on my commute.
Just curious, do you own a pair of SE215's?

rheechashaipuI don't, I just do a lot of reading on IEMs and have often found people putting the SE215 down (that may be partial to why I don't own them, or any other Shure IEMs).
That being said, I have owned the rest of the mentioned IEMs, and had the Shure SE846 for a week on loan from a friend (didn't like the 846 either).

jjwfrI have the 215spes and I have nothing but good words for it. The ergonomics could use a smidgen of work cuz my ear hurts after several hours but I love them as well. Will have to try your suggestions to see though
EDIT: was just meaning I enjoy them, not fanboying or trying to defend them

jjwfrThe sound isolation is a huge factor for me. I absolutely love it. How do those compare?

rheechashaipuive used the shure 215 before, its a good all rounder but i personally like the beyerdynamic dx 120 / dx160 wtih foam earbuds from comply. However the dx 120/160 uses a 2 piece cable and the extension cable is really crappy, brekas within like several months, so you have to buy your own extension
