UPDATE: 6/29/2017 Just as planned…the launch drop ended in June but we are extending the launch with a drop through July! More samples and reviews are still in-progress. Thank you for your patience. :) Catching up after some recent travel, will answer questions here in discussion soon.
Some news and updates…
The review process for the NuForce EDC has been taking longer than expected. Some people have samples and some are still waiting for them.   In order for more people to have the reviews to make an informed decision, we are going to extend the EDC launch through most of July.
The first drop will close and payment will be captured June 28th.   The drop will immediately reopen and run through July 26th. This extension won’t have an impact on the estimated shipping date.
One more thing…
We received feedback from some of the samples that went out. We are slightly changing the EDC connectors from the stock NuForce 0.75mm pin diameter to 0.77 diameter pins and sockets.
What does this mean?   It ensures that you can use the EDC with more aftermarket 2-pin cables.   You don't have to use proprietary NuForce cables (with the shroud). You can use most 0.77mm 2-pin cables and can also use the new 0.77mm EDC cables with shroud.
Note:  You might not get a good connection if you try stock NuForce HEM cables as they have 0.75mm diameter pins.
The EDC pins/sockets will be designed in mass production to work with 0.77mm pins. This tradeoff is important to our community and NuForce has agreed to help us with this change for mass production.  Early testing showed that the EDC could accept a range of 2-pin cables, but varying tolerances make this an important change for flexibility with aftermarket cables.
Edited 6/28/2017: Closed initial launch drop and re-opened/extended as planned.

CEE_TEEWill you be selling the 0.77mm EDC braided cables with shroud separately? I would want them as the IEM's are tuned with it.

mintea39The braided & microphone cables will be the same in the EDC kit except for the pin and socket size, which will be changed from 0.75mm to 0.77mm. You don't have to have the shroud to plug a cable in, that is just part of the NuForce design to seal the connection better and to provide some additional mechanical strain relief.

CEE_TEEEven though these are entry level IEMs, this sold me on getting a pair for myself and my partner :)
Oftentimes the cables on these types of every day carry items really get chewed up.. Numerous iPhone cables later, my wall charger and the iPhone itself are still relevant and work perfectly fine.
Appreciate the response to reviewer and community feedback for the switch to .77!

MoundsSame reason why these interest me. I don't want to spend a lot for iems, I prefer headphones, but I do need something small, portable and durable .. and these, with the detachable cables, check all those boxes. The gamble, now, is the unknown -- the sound -- which makes me hesitant to join this drop.

Astro_SevenRight now I'm using JLab J5's which are ok for carrying around, but I leave my expensive stuff at home. Work is no safe haven to anything wired.
At this price point, as long as the sound isn't completely garbage, the value is pretty solid imo. For an EDC use case it fits my needs well :)
To be fair most earbuds are produced at a price point that might make you really concerned about what you're actually paying for... It seems that the research and design that you're really paying for with the EDC model would be absorbed in the cost of other NuForce units.

MoundsAny links to nice .77 cables? I don't think they sell the stock cable separately, at least not now from what i can tell.

MoundsI went ahead and joined this drop, especially after reading this: https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/researchers-conclude-no-correlation-between-headphone-frequency-response-and-retail-price
which speaks to what you said, I think .

Astro_SevenIt's really what you're willing to pay to maybe, possibly get a better sounding tune or replay of an audio track.
If your job is 'sound engineer' then yes, all the granular details matter and they always matter... for the common consumer, we likely won't hear the difference unless going from something like Skull Candy to pretty much anything worthy of the audiophile community. This is further complicated by audio track quality, amps, and DACs which can do quite a bit even for crappy headphones.
As for cost, units are produced at rock-bottom prices, and as mentioned, you're paying for research and development time that went into tuning a particular unit.
This isn't true for every audio company. When the margin needs squeezing, the engineer is likely first to go.

CEE_TEESo, I ordered in the original group based on a rough guess of when they might come and that is now going to be at least a whole month later than planned?

Hiroyuki_SawanoHi Hiroyuki_Sawano, Most IEMs provide 21-26 dB of passive isolation. There are no vents on this IEM so the seal that you get with the tips will provide standard IEM isolation. I don't have an exact measurement for you yet, but I was getting good isolation today while using a pair and a couple of reviews have also mentioned good isolation. Hope that helps...if I can update with a number I'll reply again.

CEE_TEEI can't find any 0.77mm cables anywhere yet I can find 0.75 and 0.78mm. I was looking to get a Bluetooth cable for these if I can find one. Will the other cables work?

ahayton1099The 0.78 should work...by increasing the socket size from 0.75 to around 0.77, this should allow use for 0.77/0.78 without really stretching out the sockets.

UnicrogrillamoUsually items from MD arrive between 9 - 14 days from the moment i receive email about package shipped. (shipping label created at DHL) These took 10 days. Enjoying them right now. Pretty good isolation, though i can still hear people talking to me in close proximity which is handy for the office or on the street. Using it with S7 edge now. The digitally enhanced bass seems pretty ok. But using a DAC will definitely make a difference and bring out the clarity and bass of this set. At this price point should definitely get it.

bsastorI'm 8 days into waiting since it shipped and I believe my EDC isn't in SG yet. Anyways I plan to pair it with my Sony Xperia for everyday out and about use. I do have an Ak Jr DAP for at home use but I'm afraid it might sound too warm when paired with the EDC as the DAP itself has a warmer SS...
