Thanks to @Dsnuts , I was able to get a quick listen and some measurements on the MD x Nuforce EDC.
First off, I find that they are extremely extremely good looking IEMs. The color is a dark transparent off-navy with a hint of gray in them, and the housing for the dynamic microdriver kind of looks like a balanced armature.
They are very comfortable -- the fit is exceptional, reminiscent of the SE846. Isolation is also top notch, likely due to the fit: you can expect Shure levels of isolation, fit, and comfort from these.
Soundwise, the EDC IEMs have a very substantial bass presence, it has powerful rumble for a microdriver, actually besting most of the dynamic drivers I've heard (admittedly I've not explored most DD IEMs.. more of a BA guy). It's not loose, but it's not very tight either. Fair to good control. It dances on the basshead's lower borderline in terms of quantity -- a majority of self proclaimed bassheads will probably be happy with this quantity, and non bassheads probably won't find it overbearing. Bleeding into the low midrange is not a glaring problem.
Midrange is not recessed, thankfully. There is a small bump on the upper midrange, but noticeably less than some other IEMs I've heard (i.e. pinnacle p1, tfz king). It is not drastic. The timbre of vocals is warm and almost full, in a way "organic" (random word that comes to mind). While I prefer a midrange similar to that of the HD600/580, the EDC's midrange leans more towards the warmer and less bright side a la HD650.
There is a lack of, or dip in the lower treble. Up until the lower treble, the EDC sounds very smooth and well executed. The gape in the lower treble makes the EDC on the (slightly) darker side of things, however it also takes a piece away from the clarity of the overall sound. It doesn't ruin the IEM per se, but if the hole were filled in the lower treble the EDC would be extremely good and a brainless recommendation.
As for now, the EDC is a good purchase at the $59 asking price... unless you are looking for something neutral with detail. It excels in comfort and fit, as well as aesthetics. It also has one of the most pleasing and visceral bass presentations I've heard in its price bracket, as well as a full midrange though not too boosted in the presence region. it lacks clarity in the lower treble, but in turn is not fatiguing or harsh. The IEM is good looking, and the detachable cables + extra spare make it a great value IMO.
I could see this being a solid recommendation for those looking for a gym beater or something, as the signature can be turned up loud without harshness, isolation is great, comfort is among the best. I would probably buy them if I didn't already have an A3H on the way.
